Qulu-Yowmin Ashura Qula-Ardhin Kerbala
Assalam-un-Alaykum Imam Hussein
Assalam-un-Alaykum all the Martyrs of Islam.

With the month of Muharram upon us, we go into mourning, mourning the death of the Martyrs of Kerbala. In this month, we commemorate all the events of Kerbala, remembering how Imam Hussein, and his family, sacrificed there lives for Islam.

It is a well known fact that Terrorism has become the topic of the day. Its roots have been spread though out the centuries, the extent of cultural degradation and the consequent human loss is immemorial. More over the Terrorism is changing its faces but the great warriors have stood firm agains all such tyrants.

14 Hundred years before there was a great upsurge of Terrorism in which the grandson of the Prophet, Imam Hussein fought the barbarous regime and sacrificed all his family memebers including an infant of 6 months.

Why was there hatred to the Imam(s)?

A problem began when Ummayah didn't want to give up leadership to the Grandfather of the prohet, Bani Hashim. Ummayah had his own followers who then always had problems and disliked the Prophets family. It came down to a battle for Islam in Kerbala in Muharram, 61 A.H.(Approximetly October, 680 A.D.). This battle for Islam showed the love, bravery, and unfearing characteristics of the true followers of Islam.

Before The Battle

Previous to the battle for Islam, and before Muharram, Hazrat Muslim was martyred for in Kufa, in the month of Dhil-Hajj. Imam Hussein recieved letters from the people of Kufa that his help was needed to fight off the tyrant dictator. Imam Hussein, even though the people of Kufa didn't help Imam Ali in the past, out of his kindness and wanting to help the people sent his cousin Hazrat Muslim ibn Aqil to Kufa to help. The tyrant ruler came to know about this and said that he would reward anyone who found Hazrat Muslim ibn Aqil and turned him in. Hazrat Muslim heard this and he looked for somewhere to stay. He stayed in an old womens house and tried to hide even from the womens son. The womens son found him and turned him in. Hazrat Muslim ibn Aqil was thrown off the top of a building and his head was cut off. Crudely, without any shame, the soldiers of that town took the headless body of Harat Muslim ibn Aqil and dragged it around the city to show everyone. What did that show, that just showed how ARROGANT, SHAMELESS, AND CRUDE, the soldiers and dictator was.
Imam Hussein recieved the sad news and tried to go to Kufa with his family, Hur was at Kufa and stopped the Imam from entering and told him to go to Kerbala. Imam Hussein and his followers then went to Kerbala. They set up camp next to the river Euphrates. Ibn Zyad told the Imam to set up camp away from the river. The Imam and his followers had to move several miles as they did and set up camp far from the river Euphrates. By doing this, Ibn Zyad didn't want any water to get to the camp of Imam Hussein. Imam Husseins' camp went thirsty for 3 days. Even though after 3 days of thirst, the Imam and the warriors of the battle in Kerbala fought with all there might and strength for the love of Islam and for the love of God.

The Battle for Islam

Before the battle, Imam Hussein had told all of the warriors of the battle that they are sacrificing there lives for Islam. The warriors knew this and still fought the battle. Before the 10th day of Muharram, Hur asked Ibn Zyad to give some water to the camp of Imam Hussein. Even some at least to the children. Ibn Zyad disagreed so over-night Hur went to the camp of Imam Hussein and told him he was sorry he didn't let him go to Kufa and made him move to Kerbala. Hur asked permission to fight with the Imam and said he would be honored to fight for Islam. Imam Hussein let him fight in the battle.
It was time for Subu prayers and Hazrat Ali Akber did Adhan. During the Subu prayers, the first arrow was shot by an unknown person. The battle for Islam had started.

During the Zohr and Asr Prayers, there were people defending the Imam during the namaaz. Arrows were being shot at the followers of Islam. They risked there lives so that the Imam could be the leader during the namaaz.

The two boys Aun and Muhammed who were only 10 and 9 respectively rode out into the battlefield. They fought bravely. At one point Umar ibn Sa'ad asked, "Who are these two youngsters? They fight like I have seen Ali ibne Abu Taalib fight." When he was told who they were he ordered his soldiers to give up single combats and surround and kill the boys. Aun and Muhammad were attacked from all sides. Soon they were over-powered and brutally killed. Imaam Hussain and Hazrat Abbas carried the two young bodies to a tent and laid them on the floor. Imam walked to Bibi Zainab's tent. He found her in sijdah praying, "Ya Allah, I thank you for accepting my sacrifice. My heart is filled with pride because my two sons have given their lives for your religion."

Zainab came to the two bodies of her sons and addressing them said:-

"My dear children! Now I am pleased with you for you have proved your worth and laid down your lives for Truth and pleased God and His Holy Prophet."
Assalam-un-Alaykum Aun and Muhammed.

Hazrat Abbas went and said Khudafis to his relatives. Hazrat Abbas went out to the battle field and fought with all of his might. His right arm was then cut off and was on one side of the battle field. His left arm was then cut off on the other side of the battle field. Hazrat Abbas didn't have any arms to hold his sword with so he used his mouth to hold the sword. An arrow was then shot in his eye and he could not see. Hazrat Abbas knew it was his time to die now and Imam Hussein came to the aid of Hazrat Abbas. Hazrat Abbas asked Imam Hussein,"Master, can you please take the arrow out of my eye so I can see you for the last time?" Imam Hussein replied,"Your whole life you have been calling me master, for once, call me your brother." Imam Hussein took out the arrow from Hazrat Abbas's eye and wiped the blood off of the eye. Hazrat Abbas saw the Imam for the last time and passed away. Assalam-un-Alaykum Hazrat Abbas.

Hazrat Ali Akbar asked the Imam if he could go and fight in the battle. The Imam told him to go say Khudafis to his mother, to his relatives. When Hazrat Ali Akbar went to the battlefield, his resemblance of Prophet Muhammed was so amazing to the enemy troops. Some of the enemies thought that the Prophet had come from the Heavens to help his grandson Hussein. Some enemies got on there horses just to see his face. Hazrat Ali Akbar fought with all of his might. He came back to the camp and told his mother and family the he will not be coming back. Hazrat Ali Akbar went out to the battle field and a loud cry was heard. Imam Hussein rushed to the battle field and took Hazrat Ali Akbar in his hands. Hazrat Ali Akbar was shot with an arrow in his chest. He was bleeding severly and was losing alot of blood. Hazrat Ali Akbar died in Imam Husseins arms. Assalam-un-Alaykum Hazrat Ali Akber.

The 6 month old Hazrat Ali Asgher, brother of Hazrat Ali Akber, was in great need of drink. Imam Hussein brought Baby Ali Asgher with him and went to the enemy troops. He asked if they could even give his baby some water. The leader of the enemy troops told someone to shoot an arrow at the baby. An arrow was shot into the baby and Hazrat Ali Asgher had died. Imam Hussein was weeping as he was bringing his baby son back to the camp. He went back and forth 7 times to gain the strength to tell his wife that your son has been killed. Imam Hussein went to the camp and his wife told him to burry him so he won't get trampled on. Hazrat Ali Asgher was buried. Assalm-un-Alaykum Hazrat Ali Asgher.

Imam Hussein was the only warrior left, with cuts and blood from head to toe with arrows. Imam Hussein called out,
"Hal min Nasirin Yansorona?"

'Is there any helper to help us?'

"Hal min zabbin yazubbo an Harame Rasoolullah?"

'Is there any defender to repulse the enemy from approaching the tents of the family of the Holy Prophet?'

When there was no response from any one of the thousands standing around him, he then said aloud:-

"Alam Tasma'o? Alaisa fikum Muslimu?"

'Do ye hear me not? Is there not even a single Muslim among you?'

When Husain gave his final call to the world around him inviting the people in the way of the Lord, Husain's son Ali-e-Zainulabideen who was confined to bed with high fever, and who had just a little before received the charge of the Imamat from his father, got up and leaning on a staff, dragged himself out of his tent with his feeble sickly voice, walking towards the Holy Imam saying:-

"Labbaik Ya Abata, Labbaik!"

'Yes, Here I am O' Father dear! Here I am.

Husain seeing his ailing Ali coming out tottering in the high fever, bade him saying:-

"Get thee back O' son! My progeny is to spring from thee."

It is reported that in response to the call from the Holy Imam, some mysterious voices of 'Labbaik! Labbaik!'
(Yes we are here O' son of the Holy Prophet)
were heard from the spiritual world above, to which the Holy Imam replied 'Thanks to you all, but my concern here today is only with the living in the physical world.'

Imam Hussein then went out to the battle field and killed many enemy soldiers. With the skill in Imam Hussein, he could have killed all of the soldiers on the enemy side. Angel Gibrieel came down and told the Imam that it was time for him to sacrifice his life for Islam. The Imam then put his sword in his sheeth and went to pray Asr Namaaz. In sijda, Shimr went on Imam Hussein's back and beheaded him. The sky became red, there was thunder in the sky, even though there was not a cloud in the sky. Innah Lillahi Wa Innah Ilayhee Rajiun. Assalam-un-Alaykum Imam Hussein.

ASSALAM-UN-ALAYKUM TO ALL THE MARTYRS OF KERBALA.
