Slot Machine Bonus
The slot machine is accessed by lighting up the four lights at the bottom of the table, to spell
out "C A V E" (or "H O L E" in the Japanese version). Then, you must shoot the ball into the new
hole in the center of the table marked "SLOT". The slot machine will then start to roll. There are
several methods of lighting up the "C A V E" or "H O L E" quickly, the best one being to keep the
ball in one of the inner side pockets by shaking the table upwards constantly, and switching the
lights (with the flipper buttons) each time it goes up. Each time you play the slots, the rewards
available to win are better than the previous time. Here is a list of all the possible bonuses, and
what they do :-

Item
Name and Function

Pikachu Kickback : Allows the two Pikachus down the bottom of the table to
save your ball every time it falls down the side. Lasts for the rest of the ball,
a good prize to get early on.

Catch'em Mode Start : Starts up the Pokémon catch mode immediately.
Helpful when you're having trouble shooting up those ramps!

Evolution Mode Start : Starts up the Pokémon evolution mode immediately.
Again, helpful when you're having trouble getting it normally.

Bonus Multiplier : Multiplies the end of ball bonus score by a random number.
Not very useful really.

30 Second Ball Saver : For the next 30 seconds, whenever you lose the ball
down the hole, it will shoot the ball back into play without deducting a life.

60 Second Ball Saver : For the next 60 seconds, whenever you lose the ball
down the hole, it will shoot the ball back into play without deducting a life.

90 Second Ball Saver : For the next 90 seconds, whenever you lose the ball
down the hole, it will shoot the ball back into play without deducting a life. A
great help!

Small Score Bonus : Not so much of a bonus, more of an insult. You get a
random amount of points between one and nine hundred (100, 200, 300, etc).

Big Score Bonus : This is more like it. Adds to your score between 1 million
and 9 million points (1 million, 2 million, 3 million etc). Not as valuable later on
in the game when your score is in the billions, though.

Extra Ball : This is definitely worth winning. Only appearing rarely in the slots,
it gives you one extra ball, very valuable indeed.

Ball Upgrade (Field Multiplier) : This is basically the same as lighting up all
the lights at the top of the table, it evolves your ball and multiplies the
amount of points you get on the playing field.

Go To Meowth Stage : Only on the blue table. The first bonus stage you
come across on the blue (see below).

Go To Seel Stage : Only on the blue table. Available after beating the
Meowth stage (see below).

Go To Diglett Stage : Only on the red table. The first bonus stage you come
across on the red (see below)

Go To Gengar Stage : Only on the red table. Available after beating the
Diglett stage (see below).

Go To Mewtwo Stage : On both tables. Only available after beating the two
previous stages on your table (see below).

Bonus Stages
The bonus stages are accessible once you find them in the slot machine game, or after you
have three balls lit up in the center of the playing field (you earn one of these balls for each
Pokémon caught, two for each Pokémon evolved). To get to the Mewtwo stage, you must
complete the other two bonus stages for your table first. Here is a pic, description, special
hints, and how to win each bonus stage :-

BLUE : Meowth Stage
Description / How to win

Easy difficulty level. 1.00 time limit. You must gather up a row of
coins. Hit the Meowth and he drops a coin for you to pick up.

The trick is to hit him about 5 times without touching the coins,
then hit all the coins. That way, you get an extra bonus coin for
every one you pick up. Once you've mastered that technique, this
stage is a cinch. Try not to lose the ball, it will deduct several coins
from your total.

BLUE : Seel Stage
Description / How to win

Easy difficulty level. 1.30 time limit. The Seels will come up out of
the water one at a time. Hit them as soon as they come up. Not too
hard, since they are stationary targets. None of them ever comes
two times in a row, so it is often easy to predict their next move.

The way to win easily is similar to the Meowth stage. If you hit them
several times without missing, your points will double. Complete the
row at the top of the screen, and you've won the Seel stage!

RED : Diglett Stage
Description / How to win

Medium difficulty level. No time limit. There are 31 Digletts worth 1
million points each. Knocking them all out is tricky. Don't loose the
ball or you're gone. Using the up-tilt can be useful, but dangerous,
so be careful.

Once you have destroyed the Digletts, the Dugtrio appears at the
top. He's easy, hit him three times without losing the ball. Once he's
gone, you've won! Just make sure not to let the ball go down the
gurgler until your flippers are inactive.

RED : Gengar Stage
Description / How to win

Easy difficulty level. 1.30 time limit. Losing the ball does basically
nothing. Shoot 10 Gastlys as quickly as possible. Next, shoot the 10
Haunters. You have to be quick.

After that, the gravestones will crumble and the giant Gengar will
arive. Watch out, when he steps down, it can send the ball flying.
So, don't keep it held on the flipper. Shoot it at him four times while he isn't flashing, and you've won!

BOTH : Mewtwo Stage
Description / How to win

Hard difficulty level. 2.00 time limit. It looks and sounds simple
enough, but is in actual fact fiendishly difficult. You must hit
Mewtwo 25 times to destroy him (once every 4.8 seconds on
average throughout the 2 minutes!). The forcefields around him are
worth 1 million points each, and the more you eliminate, the more
points you get each time you hit Mewtwo (at least 10 million each
time). Losing the ball doesn't appear to do much, except waste time,
which is very precious in this stage.
