OK. Here we go! Before we get started, I suggest you print this out. It is super long! But here it is. When you turn the game on, you will name yourself and your rival(For this walkthrough, I will call your rival Gary). When you start, you are in you house. Go out of your house and walk up into some grass. Professor Oak will stop you. He will lead to his lab and let you choose a pokemon. From my experience, dont pick Bulbasaur. Youll have to fight your rival afterwards. Now go into the grass and head up towards Viridian City. When you get there, heal your pokemon if needed. Now go into the mart, which is northeast of the center. Go in, and youll be given Oaks parcel. You then have to go back to Pallet Town(The place where you started) and give the package to Prof. Oak. He will give you and Gary a pokedex, an item which will record pokemon youve seen and caught. Now, go back to Viridian City and go into the mart again to buy some pokeballs. Buy five to fill up your load. You can only carry six at a time. Now go north or Viridian and go into Viridian forest(Get a few antidotes first from the mart). This is confusing, yet a simple place to get through. You can find Pikachus, Caterpies, Metapods, Weedles, and Kakunas here, as well as bug catchers. Once you get through, youll end up in Pewter City. Go to the PKMN Center and get healed. If you look around, you find Brocks Gym. You can avoid the first trainer and go straight to Brock. He has a L12 Geodude and a L14 Onix. If you picked squirtle, you should have no trouble, but if you picked charmander, you might have a problem. If your paitent, catch a caterpie, and let it turn into a butterfree, and train to level 12. You get the Boulderbadge from Brock and The TM Bide. Go then to the east of Pewter City and go through the passage that used to be blocked. Find your way through the trainers and the go to the PKMN Center before the cave which is Mt. Moon. This cave is really confusing if you had trouble in V. Forest. Go on in and go to the right and up. Pass the first stairs and go up again. Then go to the left and down. Pass these stairs and go left and up. Now go down these stairs and go through to tunnel. Now find you way through this place full of Team Rocket. At the end, theres a guy with two fossils. Beat him and get one. The go up, left, down and down the stairs. Then down the next and your out of Mt. Moon! Find your way to Cerulean City.
After you get healed, go to the very top of Cerulean, and youll find: Gary! After you beat him, go on the bridge, which is Nugget Bridge. Beat the five trainers and beat the Rocket, and win a nugget. Then go up and right to find a maze of trainers. Find your way through here and go inside the house at the end. Help out Bill and get the S.S. Ticket. Go back to Cerulean and go to the gym. You can dodge the first trainer, but you have to fight the second one. Then you fight Misty. She has two very fast things: A L18 Staryu and a L21 Starmie. You can beat her by using grass and electric types. Charmanders have a weakness against her, so be weary. Once you beat her, you get the TM Bubblebeam. Now go to the northeast of Cerulean and go into a house that has a policeman by it. Go on through the other side and youll find a rocket. Beat him and get the TM Dig. Go right, far down, left, down, and youll see a house. Go in and go down the stairs and through a long tunnel and go out the other house. Go through here dodging all the trainers and youll end up in Vermilion City. Now heal up and search around for a house on the bottom right. Go in and speak to the guy at the top. Hell give you the bike voucher. Go straight to the far right and youll see a dock. Go down it and show the guy your ticket and go on the S.S. Anne. Go right when you first come on to some stairs. Go down the stairs and then go all the way right, then up, and theres Gary. He now has the evolution of his starter. Go and beat him. Then go up to some stairs up go speak to the captain and get HM 01(Cut). When you leave the ship it will go. Now go to the cave close to the dock which is Digletts Cave. There are digletts and dugtrios in there (duh). Go through here and when your outside, go down and cut down the bush. Next you should come to a house that has an aide of Prof. Oak. Hell give you HM05 if you have 10 pokemon. Now go back to the gym in Vermillion and look for the two switches in the trash cans. After you find them, go fight Lt. Surge. He has a level 21 Voltorb, a level 18 Pikachu, and a level 24 Raichu. Digletts are good against him. When you beat him, you get the TM Thunderbolt. After you get it, go back to Cerulean and go to the bike shop for a bike. Go out of Cerulean, to the right, and cut down the bush. Then go through this place full of trainers, until you come to a pokemon center. Heal up, then go into the cave next to the center. Go in and use Flash (Hm05) to see. There are lots of trainers in rock tunnel, including pokemaniacs, people who carry around slowpokes and cubones. You can find geodudes, machops, onixs, and zubats in here. There are no misleading stairs here, so just follow the roads. Its not too hard to get through here. When out of Rock Tunnel, go down, dodging all trainers, and go to Lavender Town. Heal up and go to the west of Lavender. Follow the path through here, bypassing as many trainers as possible. Youll come to a house which youll go into. Go through the tunnel and out the other house. When out, go up the stairs and go to Celadon City. Theres a gym with grass pokemon at the bottom of the city. For now, just run around until you find the game corner. Fight the Rocket and press the switch behind the poster, and go in the base. Go down the first stairs you see, the go around the corner and go down those stairs. Go left and go through the maze, then go down the next stairs you see. Then go up and left and fight the Rocket who says The elevator wont work? Who has the Lift Key? After you beat him, talk to him again and hell drop the lift key. Once you have that, go back to the first maze you saw and go through that, then go in the elevator and go to B4. Once there, fight the two trainers to open the door, then fight Giovanni. Hes not that hard if you have the correct things. Psychic, Water, and Fighting are good against his things. Beat him and get the Sliph Scope, an item that allows you to see ghosts. Now, go to then gym and find your way to Erika. She will have a level 29 Victreebel, 24 Tangela, and 29 Vilplume. Fire and flying are good against her. When you beat her, you get the Rainbow Badge and then TM Mega Drain. Now go to the west of Celadon where a Snorlax is blocking the road. Cut down the bush and go through the building to the other side and go in the house. Talk to the girl and she will give you HM 02 (Fly). Now fly to Lavender Town and go into Pokemon Tower. Gary will be in there, so be well prepared for the fight. Pokemon Tower has lots of ghosts and cubones in it, as well as channelers.
When you come to a bunch of squares, that is a healing place for you. On the last floor, there will be stairs at the bottom of the screen. When you go near them, something will say be gone intruder. You will see a ghost, which your Sliph Scope will identify as a Marowak. Defeat him and go down the stairs. There are three Rockets, each you must defeat to get to Mr. Fuji, who will give you the PokeFlute, an item that allows you to wake up all pokemon when played. Now go back to Celadon back to place that was blocked on the right passage by a snorlax. Play the PokeFlute to wake it up. Fight it and try to catch it because there are only two in the whole game. Now go onto cycling road, dodging all the trainers. The trainers have fighting and poison types, so psychic would be great here. When you get to the end, go right, and through the building. When the music changes to that of Cerulean, thats your cue your in Fuchsia City. Heal up, then run around until you find the safari zone. This place is the place with the most different kinds of pokemon in the game. You only have 500 steps and 30 safari balls. Your goal here is to get HM03(Surf) and the Gold Teeth. These are both in the same area, so when you find one, you should have no trouble finding the other. When you find both, go out of the safari zone, and go to the right house of the two houses to the right of the PKMN Center and give the teeth to the game warden. He will give you HM04, which is Strength. The other house is a house with a fishing guru. He will give you the good rod. Now, go to the gym next to the Center. This place has all psychic trainers, except for Koga, the gym leader. He has Poison pokemon. He has a koffing, a Muk, a Koffing, and a Weezing. Ground or
Psychic are good against him. Beat him, and get the TM Toxic. Now, teach something surf, and fly to Pallet Town. Go to the bottom where the water is. Surf down until you reach an island, which is called Cinnabar Island. Here, get healed up and go to the building to the left of the PKMN Center. Go in, and go to the last room on the right. There will be a guy who will bring your fossil back to life. You cannot go into the gym without finding the Secret Key first. You get that in the Pokemon House. The Pokemon House is a place with fire and poison types in it. First, you go straight up to the first stairs you see. Once down those, go right, up, left, and down those stairs. Then, press a switch on the next floor and go through the passageway that opens. Go through to big hole at the bottom of the screen. Then avoid the scientist when you fall. Go down the next stairs you see. Then, go up, to the left, and down into the place with a switch, a trainer, and a pokeball. Get the TM and press the switch. Then go out the left side, up, right, and up into the new place thats open. Go all the way up and press the next switch you see. Go left, get the TM, go down, and get the next thing you see which is the secret key. Get out of there and go to the gym. The gym has lots of quizzes which you must get right, or face a trainer. The answers go in this order: 1=Yes; 2=No; 3=No; 4=No; 5=Yes; 6=No. Then comes Blaine. He has a Growlithe, a Ponyta, a Rapidash, and a Arcanine. Water, Rock, and Ground are good against him. Beat him, and get The Volcanobadge and the TM Fire Blast. Now, go to Celadon, and get some water from
The Dept. store on the top level. Then go to the east of Celadon, and give the water to the guard to go to Saffron. When in Saffron, go straight to the big building with the rocket be side the door. Go in and go to the 5th floor. Then go down to the bottom and go on the teleport pad, but go back on when you get teleported. Then go to the right until you come to a ball. That has the Card Kay in it. Then, go to the 3rd floor. Go down, fight the rocket, and use your card key on the panel on the left. Go onto the first pad you see, then youll have to fight Gary. He has a Pidgeot, an Alakazam, and the final evolution of his starter. After you beat him, talk to the other guy in the room. He will give you Lapras. Then, go onto the other teleport pad in the room. When teleported, go down to fight the rocket, and use the card key on the door above you. Then go fight Giovanni. His most powerful is a Nidoqueen. Whip him up, and then go talk to the guy(not the girl) in the room. He will give you the masterball. Then, go out of there, and go to the two gyms. Go into the one on the left, which is the Fighting Dojo. Beat everyone in there, and pick either Hitmonlee, or Hitmonchan. Then, go into the one on the right, to find this place is full of teleport pads. The trick is to keep on going directly to the side(go right or left). There is one exception. When the pads are in the shape of a square and theres a channeler in the room. You will go straight down there. Then, continue the original pattern. When you get to a room where theres only one pad, youre at Sabrina. She has a Kadabra, a Mr. Mime, a Venomoth, and an
Alakazam. Even though bug is great against psychic, Dugtrios are also good because hes great against one thing, hes fast, and the others have sad defense. Once you beat Sabrina, you get the Marshbadge, and the TM Psywave. Now, go back to Viridian City and go to the gym that was once locked. Go in and youll find a maze that is like the one in the Game Corner. It is actually not that hard. When you get to the leader, youll be face to face with-Giovanni!?! Bring a water or ice type here; youll need it. He has a Ryhorn, a Dugtrio, a Nidoqueen, a Nidoking, and a Rhydon. All of them are ground. Whip him up, and get the TM Fissure. Now, go out the left of Viridian, and go down, left, up, and left until you run into-Gary! He has pretty much the same lineup as before, except he has one more. Beat him, and go on. You come to a house. Go through it. Then go on through this place that is somewhat like a maze. You will be stopped seven times while going through to check to see if you have a certain badge. You will come to victory road eventually, where the only time you use your fighting abilities is to fight trainers. The rest of the time, you use your brain and your mental abilities. You use strength to push the boulders onto the circles on the ground. You will have to do that three times, and the last time is confusing. You will have to push the boulder down a hole, then push it to the left until it goes on the switch. Then get out of there by going through the passage that opens. Then, while out of the cave, go through the mini-maze. When you come to Indigo Plateau, heal up, then stop. Before you go fight
The Elite Four (or rather five), make sure you have a powerful fire type, water type, electric type, psychic type, ice type, and type of you choice. Youll need these because once you go in to fight them, you can not come back out until you beat them, or they beat you. Buy some Max revives, some Max Potions, and Full Heals, and definitely make sure you save before you go in to fight. Now if you think you are ready, go in. The first person you fight is Lorelei. She has in this order, a Dewgong, a Cloyster, a Slowbro, a Jynx, and a Lapras. Use electricity on all but the Jynx. Use fire on that. After you beat her, the door will open to the next person: Bruno. He has in order: an Onix, a Hitmonchan, a Hitmonlee, an Onix, and a Machamp. Use water against the Onixs, and use psychic against the fighting types. When you beat Bruno, you have to fight Agatha. She has a Gengar, a Golbat, a Haunter, an Arbok, and a Gengar. Use plain Psychic against her judging the fact that all of her things are part poison. When you beat her, you go and fight Lance, The Dragon trainer. He has a Gyrados, a Dragonair, a Dragonair, an Aerodactyl, and a Dragonite. Use electric against Gyrados, ice against the dragons and water against Aerodactyl. When you beat him, he tells you that you have to fight your rival one last time. Put out your electric for the Pidgeot, anything for the Alakazam, and water for the Rhydon. The rest of the stuff you fight depends on what you picked at the beginning of the game. If you picked Charmander, you have to fight an Arcanine, a Exeggutor, and a L65 Blastoise. If you picked Squirtle, you have to fight a
Gyrados, an Arcanine, and a L65 Venasaur. If you picked Bulbasaur, you fight an Exeggutor, a Gyrados, and a L65 Charizard. Good Luck. When you beat him and go through all the credits, go to Cerulean, go up to the nugget bridge surf down to the water and the cave and explore in there. You will eventually find Mewtwo in the Unknown Dungeon. Thats my walkthrough. |
