Tell us about your brush with celebrities.

I live in a beautiful place where many of celebrities come to vacation and hide out for awhile.. and, for the most part, I think the people who live here do leave them alone. People seem to give celebrities something of a 'godlike,' on-a-pedestal status that I'm pretty sure most of them are uncomfortable with... they are people, too. One "brush" of mine was when I was walking in a small shopping center one afternoon after a business meeting maybe 6 or 7 years ago, going over some details
and afterthoughts with another member of the meeting...and walking toward us was a happy group of people that I assumed was a family..regular looking, jeans and sneakers, laughing and talking, very casual.. and as I glance over at the dad..make eye contact and we both give each other small smiles and nods as we all walk past each other.. I realize I've just made 'nodding acquaintance' with Jeff Bridges! I had a good feeling knowing that they could come to our little part of the world and just be themselves with no hoo-rah about it :)

One other time, through happenstance I sat next to one of the band member's girlfriend during a fund raising concert here. Afterwards, she just grabbed my arm and took me backstage to say hi and talk with the performers. After a short, but good, conversation about guitars with Scott Thurmond, I turned around and there was Jackson Browne at the edge of the group.. quiet and unassuming, but more than willing to say hello. Talking a little with him and being at the edge of his conversations with others, I couldn't help but think "what a nice guy!"

In 1957 jayne mansfield made a tour of air bases in england. i was the prop in a photo-op, and sat on her lap and she kissed me on the cheek. i felt all funny inside. man she was luscious. i was ten years old.
(Not many men can actually remember their frist boner)B

Well the closest encounter I had was with an actor from a soap opera. He was starring in a play which was being put on in that town. He came into a shop that I was in at the same time and that was it. Never saw me or said nothin to me. he other one was with Britney Spears( am I weird for thinking she isn't very good looking) but I don't even know if it was the real one as it was a chat room and that could all be fake.
(You mean someone would lie in a chatroom? Nawwwwwww!)B

Way back when...early 80's..I would interpret concerts in sign language for the deaf. I would be required to show up at the concert arena early and meet the celebrity and go over the program. Well, I was hired to do Kenny Rodgers concert!! He is a very strange man!!!! I was standing there listening to Rogers talk and one of his managers was standing there with me. One member of his tour crew walked up to us, barely touched Rogers forearm...and asked him something. Rogers went nuts!!!! He started furiously brushing off his arm where the crew member touched his arm and started yelling about how nobody was suppose to touch him! Weird!!!
(The weird part is why anyone would want to touch him)B

well, I went to school with Sinbad.. still is and always was a very nice, funny, and a gentleman, his clean humor makes him special, concidering the neighborhood we grew up in, he has my utmost respect for remaining, a nice, clean yet very funny comediean..

One Sunday morning my friends and I were breakfasting in a quaint little restaurant in Santa Fe, and Allie McGraw entered. She was waiting to be seated. She had to wait for quite a while and when we finally left, she was blocking the exit so that I had to say, "Excuse me"to her and her little group so that we could get passed and let them have "our" table!

A long time ago I lived in Milwaukee, I loved going to the local museum and got to see Artie Johnson and his lady friend while they toured the local Museum(She was l LOT taller than he was..and gorgeous). I then met Leonard Nimoy(droolpantdrool) while he was there. They had both been apperaing at a
local Summer Stock Theater in The Round (Mr. Nimoy was amazing in Equus..I can't remember what show Mr. Johnson was in)

I worked at the Indianapolis airport in a gift shop. A customer wearing faded, ripped blue jeans, old T-shirt and sunglasses walked in. Happened that he looked familiar to me, and I realised that it was Johnny Cougar Melancamp. The funniest thing about meeting him was that the only thing I could find for him to autograph was a discarded carton for Marlboros!!

Was working in L.A. area a year or so ago, and met Christina Ferrarri in Planet Hollywood of Beverly Hills. Spoke to her and asked if I might take a picture of her. She could NOT have been sweeter and I got a very close pic that I am very proud of.

"Leap of Faith" was partially filmed here and watched the filming. Among those that I was within yards and sometimes, feet of, were Steve Martin, Lolita Dividivich, Meatloaf & last, Debra Winger. The first three could not have been more cordial during breaks. But, Ms.Winger...Snotville City!!.
(I've always wondered. When you're around Meatloaf, do you like actually smell gravy)B

Believe it or not, this is a TRUE story! I was the foreman on a job where we were setting up our equipment to begin pouring the foundation for a new parking structure on the corner of Camden Avenue and Little Santa Monica Boulevard in downtown Beverly Hills. It was about 6:15 a.m. on a Monday morning in May of 1978 and we were placing a concrete pumping hose from the street across the sidewalk into the construction site when a little old man slowly "heeled and toed" his way up to the 4" diameter hose that we had just placed across the sidewalk. We had not yet had the time to build a proper ramp over this hose, as required, for
pedestrians to safely transverse this obstruction. I ran over to this little old man and offered my assistance in his crossing over the hose that we had just laid across the sidewalk. He smiled at me and firmly took my arm in hand as I gently assisted him over the obstruction. As he let go of my arm and graciously thanked me for helping him, I just happened to Iook carefully into his eyes and realized that this stately older gentleman was the legendary dancer and movie star Fred Astaire that I had just helped keep from falling over our construction equipment. I will NEVER forget and truly treasure that moment for as long as I live!
(That really is a nice story. No really, I'm not being a smartass. It was nice.)B

I have been lucky to have contact with many celebrities
over the years, but there are two that distinctly stand out.
First was back in 1991 ... I had a chance to talk with the
late Walter Payton at a trade show. He was all the gen-
tleman of which everyone speaks. I remember standing
next to him and, having played college football, thought
to myself that he shouldn't be that hard to tackle. Then
I remembered how he used to run right over three or
four guys at a time who were much bigger and stronger
than me.

The other celeb was Dean Friedman, who had a Top 20 hit in 1977 with "Ariel". I had arranged for Dean to be interviewed by another DJ at the radio station where I work on weekends, and this DJ turned out to be a real egostistical putz who asked stupid and embarassing questions (rather than using the questions I had prepared based on Dean's very successful and long career in Canada and Great Britain). But Dean was a complete gentleman, very humble and answered every question with sincerity (despite
what must have been a great deal of aggravation).
(Does dean Friedman really qualify as a celebrity here?)B

Everyone knows that Tom Cruise is from Louisville, Kentucky. Well, that's where I am. One night, kinda late, my husband went to Kroger groceries to get whatever and as he walked up to the door he noticed a shiney, black, new truck and the front plate said T. Cruise. He stopped in front of it for a minute, then shook his head and thought "Naw, couldn't be". He started to walk away when the driver rolled down the window and told him "Yeah, this is Tom Cruise's truck, he loaned it to me." and rolled the window back up. That's about as close to having a brush with a celeb. that we ever had.
(First,I had no clue where Tom Criuse was from. Second, you actually had a brush with a motor vehicle. Third, no real proof it was his. Fourth, do you suspect Tom Cruise is gay?)B

Years ago while at LAX airport, I was standing outside when a limo with "The Carpenters" (Karen & Richard) pulled up (remember them?) They stepped outside for a minute and I assume expected a crowd to surround them; but to no avail. I didnt even go over to them. Evidently this pissed Richard off cos he stomped over to the driver's side, got in and sped off, squealing tires and all. Needless to say, I was unimpressed. Wonder what Karen had to say about this.
(She probably said, "No really I just ate, thanx")B

About 26 years ago (when I was 11), I was in Nashville, Tennessee for a swim meet. Several of us were on the elevator at the hotel we were staying in, when the door opened and there stood Burt Reynolds. He was in Nashville filming a movie. We got to talk to him. Needless to say the poor guy was "bugged to death", for an entire weekend, by a BUNCH of kids and their parents. Poor guy!!

Once, I almost ran over Mike Modano!
I was taking my brother to hockey practice at the Star Center, and I absolutely cannot find a space to park! There's a lot of people surrounding this big tour bus, and I figured it was a high school team from out of state or something, so I just kinda ignore it, right? Well, anyway, I'm coming around the corner for about the fourth time, I'm going really slow, and when I start to pass the bus, Mike Modano steps out in front of my car!
Thats my story of how I almost ran over Mike Modano :-)

I go to the University of Mississippi and one night I went to the Billiard Club as usual. It was Karyoke night, and guess who showed up? Danielle Fisher (Topanga from "Boy Meets World") and Lance from the boy band NSync. Well, Danielle seemed like kind of a snob, but not too bad, really. Lance, who you would think could sing, got up to do Karyoke and was really really bad. Which just proves people's theories on pop music.

I met Bob Dylan 20 years ago , When his kids were young they played softball in the small town I live near. He used to come and watch them play. My son was on the same team as Jakob Dylan. He stayed to himself and didn't really talk to anyone. One time I brought one of his album's with me and asked him to autogragh it And he did I was so nervous I don't remember what he said.
Most people in town respect his privacy and leave him alone. I still see him every once in awhile. I'm still a big fan of his.

You know that little pudgy boy from The Cosby Show named Petie? He was Rudy's friend and like, the only little white kid on the show. Well, I went to college with him last year :) He was in my English class and he and I, and some other of my friends, became very good friends with him...totally awesome :)
(Glad to her he's doing well. It's tough for child stars especially ones with a weight problem. When's the last time you heard from Lumpy Rutherford?)B

Well I have never actually HAD one myself but my husband did. He was driving a cab in New Orleans when one of his stops was for Tuesday Weld and her manager and she (MsWeld) actually kissed him on the cheek. I guess she thought he was nice ...lol I don't think he has ever gotten over that and that was YEARS ago

When I was in the 7th or 8th grade, (about 13 yrs. ago) Latoya Jackson(Michael and Janet's sister, for those that don't know) came to my school and gave everyone an autographed picture of herself. Back then I thought that it was so cool. Now looking back, I have to wonder what all the hype was about.
(Latoya Jackson came to school? What was this reforme school?)B

i dated gene pitney -- once
i was jojo starbuck's grandmother's nurse
tex ritter (john's father) sang happy birthday to me on my 21st birthday.

My brush with a celebrate was Timothy Hutton at a Roy Rogers Restaurant on my way back from Atlantic City. He was in the Movies (TURK 182, Hawk & the Snowman, with Sean Penn, and was married at one time to Debra Winger.

I've tols my story about seeing Boxer Marvin Hagler in a restroom before so I won't repeat, I also saw Wade Boggs at a nightclub once. I was never a big fan so I wasn't to impressed.
