Diagon Alley
Just press the stone three up and two across from the trashcan...

NEW! Poetry and Doll Maker with Galleries!     [Learn About Our Ecommerce]
Graphics Gallery!

You step onto a street filled with people dressed in strange clothing and carrying mysterious packages. Thousands of odd smells reach your nose as you listen to bits of conversations that reach your ears: "Let's hurry over to Florish and Blotts, I heard something about a sale..." and "Those cart rides over at Gringotts still make me woozy. I could of sworn a dragon almost roasted me..." As you walk down the street you see literally millions of magical products-brooms, robes, wands, cauldrons...everything you could ever imagine. Who knows what you could buy...You are in DIAGON ALLEY!

Well, as you all know, money is accumulating rather fast inside many Gringotts vaults. And, of course, ya don't have a single place to spend it. Your troubles are over...or they can be. You see, I don't have enough time to build a lot of shops, so I am turning the job over to you. Ever wanted to build a webpage but just didn't want the full responsibility? You don't need much of that here.

James Lupines is our Diagon Alley Official. If there are any mistakes, contact either him or Atlantis.

THE SHOP OWNERS GUIDE TO DIAGON ALLEY
The first step in building your shop is deciding your shop name and what it will carry. My best recommendation is to sell something no one else is selling. That way you have more business and when competition does show up, you have the head start.

The next step is getting a page. To see the Unofficial Harry Potter Fan Club List of Webpages and Services, follow this link. You can also try Maxpages (link at bottom). Geocities and Angelfire are very complicated; I belive Homestead and Xoom are easier; Maxpages is great because of all the images, but you do have to read up on email and page link operations; Expage is great for starters and firsties, but you only get 2 images a page, which is bad for a shop.

Step 3 is to set it up! Once your shop is ready for buisness, tell the DAO and I'll add a link. You will get paid 1 galleon for startup, and 1 sickle for every item you sell. This is to compell you to improve your shop. You will get a payment of 1 sickle a week because you have a shop that is working.

Once your shop is set up, people will visit your shop. Once a week, you will send Gringotts a total list of your sales, who bought what, and how much each member spent, sort of like a bill. Make sure you have a e-owl address (current or make a new one) for orders to be sent and tell your visitors how to order.

If you have questions, want suggestions or ideas, or need help, contact me.

The shops in Diagon Alley should be maintained in order to ensure your visitors are getting service.

-Shops should get new items at least once a month, even though it is not required. New items are a great way to boost business.

Another important part maintaining your shop is improving it. Here are some good ideas to make your shop a bit better:

-Give buyers something in return, not just words in a vault. Send them a graphic of or a link to what they bought, send them directions or instructions, something of the sort.

-In your shop, offer detailed descriptions of the product. Offer different colors or different personalities for each kind of item. Price them differently.

-Offer sales and coupons on certain items. Make sure they are authorized first.
