11/29/00 Fiona Shaw, who plays Harry's mean old Aunt Petunia, recently revealed her reservations to Empire Online: "Every child in the country and beyond is full of loathing for Aunt Petunia. I am not sure I am going to be so happy when I get bombarded with eggs when I get off an airplane, or something."
11/29/00 Regarding plans for sequels, Fiona Shaw said, "I will be doing part two, and three and four happily because, apart from anything else, that was the contract we had to agree to, but also because it is such great fun to follow the story through." (Empire Online)
10/31/00 The role of Quidditch team captain Oliver Wood will be played by young actor Sean Biggerstaff, according to the UK's Daily Record. Alan Rickman, who worked with Biggerstaff on The Winter Guest, suggested him for the role.

09/01/00 Drew Barrymore is among the many caught up in the Harry Potter craze. Her upcoming Charlie's Angels includes a homage to the adventure- some boy wizard. In one scene, Barrymore sneaks through a secret passage wearing large, round glasses and a wizard's robe. The actress also found time on-set to read aloud from the popular books. Hmmm could that have anything to do with the movie's alleged production problems? (People)
08/24/00 Daniel Radcliffe, the kid bringing Harry Potter to life, spoke about getting the part, "A lot of other boys in the class know that I've only read the first one or two and these boys are total fanatics. They're angry because I have read the least Harry Potter in my class
I think I'm a bit like Harry because I'd like to have an owl." (Cinescape Online)
08/24/00 In a press conference in London yesterday, Columbus confirmed that Maggie Smith will play Professor McGonagall and Robbie Coltrane will play Hagrid the Giant, as expected. 08/24/00 Columbus revealed there will be a U.K. version and a U.S. version. In the U.K. the book is titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone whereas the U.S. book title changes the word "philosopher" to "sorcerer." Scenes that reference the "philosopher's stone," will be re-shot and changed to the "sorcerer's stone" for the U.S. version. (Cinescape Online)
08/21/00 The book series' author J. K. Rowling seems plenty happy with the casting of the three young actors. "Having seen Dan Radcliffe screen test, I don't think Chris Columbus could have found a better Harry. I wish Dan, Emma and Rupert the very best of luck and hope that they have as much fun acting the first year at Hogwarts as I had writing it." (Official Site)
08/16/00 UK's The Citizen newspaper reports that protesters are preparing to picket Gloucester Cathedral if plans to shoot the live-action film version of the children's novels goes ahead there as proposed. 08/14/00 The movie has had little luck casting actors, but the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft, the school for wizardry that Harry Potter attends, has been found and will be played by the 900-year-old Gloucester Cathedral. (BBC News)
