Tupac is well known for his Thug Life image, he had the very words tattooed across his chest. Most people never knew that Tupac renounced his Thug Life, that it was stupid, and a thing of the past. Tupac Shakur was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1971. Early in his life, he moved to Baltimore , MD, where he attended The Baltimore School for the Performing Arts. At this school, Tupac left a lasting impression on his teachers and was showing tremendous potential. Unfortunately, Tupac was unable to continue his training. He moved to Oakland, California with the rest of his family. That's when Tupac began to, as he called it, "Hang with the wrong crowd."
Not held back by his lack of formal education, Tupac joined the Rap group Digital Underground as a dancer. Not long before the group achieved award winning success, Tupac released his own album in 1991 "2pacallyps Now". It may not be Tupac's most known record, but it did have its share of great songs.
Tupac as a rap star had accomplished so much in the short time he was making music. His stunning talent also got him a role in the motion picture, "Juice" in 1992. The role made Tupac a household name and showed the world that music may not be Tupac's #1 attribute. Tupac eventually released a second album "Strictly for my Niggaz," which featured songs like "I Get Around " and "Keep Ya Head Up". This album increased the popularity of the already talented rapper, it was an even bigger success than his first album. The next year in 1993 he starred along side Janet Jackson in Poetic Justice. He also was featured in Above the Rim.
In 1995 he released "Me Against the World", which sold millions and was in the number one spot on Billboards chart for five weeks in a row. His latest CD which was released in 1996 is" All Eyez on Me" which was the first solo rap artist double CD pack in history, and it came out on top its first week spending 4 weeks at number one and sported a number one single "How do you want it". This CD just has too many great songs to name.
On the night of September 6th, 1996 Tupac was attending the Tyson fight in Las Vegas Nevada with Suge Knight and some of the other Deathrow members. they were in the luxury box and Suge told Tupac to take off his bullet proof vest (Tupac always wears a bullet proof vest). Tupac was involved in a beat down that night in the lobby of the hotel. Later on that night Tupac was off to do some charity work when he was shot 6 times. the bullets came in on the driver side were Suge was driving yet Suge didn't get shot at all, a bullet just grazed the top of his head. All the bullets that hit Tupac were in the chest/back area, if he had his vest on perhaps he wouldnt have got killed. 7 days later tupac was pronounced dead with no autopsy photo, and was cremated the very next day. about a year later the police released an autopsy picture, but there were no tattoos in the picture. That is one of the many things that protect the theory that Tupac may be still alive.
Now Deathrow Records & Amaru Entertainment have released a double C.D. in tribute to him. The C.D. entitled "Tupac's Greatest Hits" has many great songs on it. There are many un-released Tupac songs out there, but Tupacs mom (CEO of Amaru Entertainment) is in court with Deathrow Records fighting for the un-released tracks, she has already won the money they owed to Tupac and hopefully she will win the un-released tracks. Tupac was in my opinion the most notorious star, and he kept the West Side alive! I know he will be greatly missed by ALL the Tupac fans! |
