Ø YMP Kathmandu Valley office is established in Gillette English Higher Secondary Boarding School Kalimati, Kathmandu. Mr. Netra Subbha Director and the founder of the school playing the role of full time co-ordination as a coordinator. Ø Mr. Bhairab Malla is working as a Coordinator for YMP Office in Nepalgunj for 5 districts Banke, Bardiya, Salyan, Surkhet and Dolpa to mobilize volunteer. Ø Mr. Madan Shah member from HELP/Nepal Working as a secretary for YMP Office in Nepalgunj Ø Ms. Tara Oli and Kalpana K.C are working as Field supervisor for YMP in Banke district. Ø Meeting with MSC Banke, RDSB Banke, ENRUDEC Banke, and SEEP Nepal Banke. Ø Communicate with UNICEF for the coordination and cooperation of the program with the activities of YMP in Nepal and it's expectations. Ø Announcement of free Voluntary service to YMP Ø Announcement for District level Essay Competition of High School level students on the subject "Our Nepal in 2020" Ø Proposal submitted on " YMP Workshop" to Save the Children UK, USA, Norway, Japan, Plan International and Oxfam for funding Opening Program of 1 Day Practical and 3 days Orientation January 28, 2001 Ø The practical and orientation Program for 41 selected Volunteers was held in Manikapur VDC hall in Banke district. The Program was held on the chairmanship of Mr. Madhav Raj Khanal International Local Supporter Nepal. The Chief Guest of the program and Manikapur VDC Chairman Mr. Padam Aryal inaugurated the program at Manikapur VDC's hall Banke. The program was held on the chairmanship of International Local Supporter of YMP Nepal Mr. Madhav Raj Khanal. VDC personnel and other guest from the community were attended at the program. Mr. Madan Shah the secretary for the YMP Banke office presided over the opening ceremony. Program Coordinator for YMP Banke office Mr. Bhairab Malla gave the welcome speech and address about the YMP. The selected participants were from various districts from Dolpa -1, Surkhet -1, Salyan - 2, Bardiya - 9, Banke - 20 and the other 8 volunteers were from the various program of HELP/ Nepal. The Program was held from 28th. January to 31st. January 2001. Closing Ceremony & Certificate Distribution January 31, 2001. Ø With the presence of the Chief-guest District Development committee's chairman Mr. Om Prakash Junj Rana distributed certificates to 33 Participants and gave a speech on YMP and its necessity in youth. At the closing program VDC chairman Mr. Padam Aryal, gave a speech about YMP and gave encouragement to youth Volunteers to become more active. The program was held on the chairmanship of International Local Supporter of YMP Nepal Mr. Madhav Raj Khanal. YMP Volunteers Mr. Ramesh Kumar Shrestha, Mr. Dipak Kumar Gupta amd Ms. Laxmi Basnet welcomed the Chief guest and other guest and gave an address about the YMP and their desire to be a volunteer in YMP. In the program Mr. Micheal Handreson, volunteer for HELP/Nepal and Ms. Ann, Peace Corps, also attend in the program. Mr. Madan Sahah presided over the closing ceremony. The program coordinator for YMP, Mr Bhairab Malla and also Mr. Ramesh Saha, program official of PDDP, was also in attendance. Volunteer Placement 1st. February 2001. Ø 37 Oriented and Trained volunteers activated in Banke, Bardiya, Salyan, Dolpa and Surkhet District. February 1, 2001 Total participants : 4 Time: 4 - 5 PM Ø Visit at Tulsipur Giri Tole by Volunteer Mr. Padam Bahadur Khatri and Mr. Pravin K.C. they organize the meeting with community people and Introduce about YMP and role of volunteers. February 2, 2001 Total Participants: 26 Time: 3-5 PM Ø At Vada Tole of Mohamadpur VDC Mr. Padam Bahadur Khatri and Mr. Pravin K.C. organize a meeting with the student of non-formal education (OSP) class and deliberate the message of YMP, it's goal, objectives, procedure of group formation and its important. Boys - Girls Damauli Public Awareness Youth Group 9 4 5 February 3, 2001 Total Participants: 13 Time: 3-5 PM Ø Advisory meeting was held at Tulsipur, Gulariya Municipality ward no. 5, with the youths. Youth group formation in Bardiya District February 4, 2001 Total Participants: 53 Time: 3-5 PM Ø 31 member's YMP Youth Group formation at Tulsipur, Gulariya Municipality ward no. 5. Mr. Santosh Upadhay, Mr. Ramesh Khatri, Miss. Radhika Upadhaya, Mr Shyam Bahadur Dangi, Miss Bishnu Giri hold the post of President, Vice-president, Treasurer, Secretary and Joint-secretary. After the group formation the group meeting was held. The 31 members of the committee discuss about their local problems, cause, need and solving and made four decisions: 1. The name of the group will be Sirjansil Bal Samuha Tulsipur (Creative Child Group) 2. Every member of this group will pay Rs. 20 per month and establish a fund. 3. From the collected fund it will only use or spend for educational materials, News and magazine, children's books and magazine. 4. Now the Constraint of time after 2 days the next meeting will be held to discuss about the right duties, job and responsibility of the member. Deliberate the Message of YMP and group formation February 5, 2001 Karkandou School Ø The message dissemination and discussion within the student and teachers has held at Lagdahawa Secondary School, Karkandou, Banke. The program was held on the Chairmanship of the teacher of the school Mr. Sukla. Mr. Madhav Raj Khanal the International local supporter for Nepal was the chief guest for the program. YMP's Volunteers Ms. Luxmi Basnet presided over the program. The other volunteers Mr. Purshotam Lakher, Ms. Nilovana Thapa gave the speech about the goal, objectives and its importance and deliberate the message of YMP. After the introduction program, the discussion session was held students of the school actively participated to find out the problems and solving theirs problem. 20 members of group have formed to fight against the illiteracy in the community and the members decided to teach 1 alphabet a day to theirs illiterate parents also. YMP Extra Activities in the School February 9, 2001 Total Participants: 91 Time: 1-4 PM Ø The school children presents their extra activities like Poem, Story, Essay, Songs, Jokes etc. The program was held on the chairmanship Mrs. Indra Mishra the principal of Sarswoti Primary School, Nepalgunj Municipality, Banke. Mr. Madhav Raj Khanal International local supporter for the YMP Nepal was the chief guest. Mr. Khanal distrubuted the prizes to the student who were selected as 1st, 2nd. 3rd. and satisfied presenter. On the occasion Mr. Khanal address to the participants about the YMP in Nepal, its goal and objectives and program activities in Nepal. Before closing the program Chairman of the program Mrs. Indra Mishra said, "The children will be very beneficial by YMP they can share their knowledge, skills, willing and concept between their guardians, community and Nation. They can also be self-confidence and self-reliance and they can participate for the betterment of coming millennium and can activate to solve their local problems by themselves. The volunteers of YMP and the school jointly organized the program. The volunteers Mr. Deepak Kumar Gupta and Miss. Sarswoti Subedi gave the welcome speech.
