The Arogya Ashram, Kathmandu, Founded in 1964 by Yogacharya Dr. Kashi Raj Upadhyay in Lazimpat, Kathmandu and shifted in 1967 to Maharajganj due to increasing want of space. Then shifted again in 1979 to Battisuputali, Gaushala for the final time as the number of residential facilities was on demand by the growing interest of foreign tourist to learn the sconces of yoga system of medicine and natural living in the quite atmosphere away from hustle bustle of city life. Nearly 90% of the natural health and yoga system of medicine centers are running by his shunt in Nepal.
In 2000 Yogacharya Dr. Kashi Raj Upadhayaya and Dr. Prof. M. Kawakami, founder Executive director of the Essence School of yoga System, Tokyo, Japan had established the International School of yoga system of medicine and Hospital with full scientific level under Arogya Ashram Administration.
Arogya Ashram is recognized by His Majestys Government of Nepal and registered under the Organization Registration Act.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
1. To initiate individuals in Yoga System of Medicine and natural health regardless of their caste, creed, color, sex, religion and nationality.
2. To promote and make available a practical system of yogic education and Natural Health for the development of a human personality integrated physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually and able to function as a responsible and efficient member of society.
3. To consolidate and standardize the techniques and teaching method of yoga system of medicine and natural health around the world.
4. To print, publish and circulate Yoga system of medicine as well as natural health literature and to render it accessible to the common man, wherever he may reside.
5. To initiate encourage and guide research work in the methodology and natural Health as it is related to the medical, educational, sociological and scientific areas of society.
6. To provide a solid foundation for the application of yoga system of medicine and natural living is daily life, without interfering with social position, life style, and temperament of beliefs.
7. To create a return to the Gurukul community order of living for the uplift of mankind as an aid to the social and spiritual evolution of the human race.
8. To contribute peace and harmony to the word by promoting love and fraternity among people in order to bring about a infield mode of existence with universal respect of human character, health and fundamental rights.

INTRODUCTION
The yoga is the system of medicine of the before Vedic science time that deals the study of Yoga System of medicine as Mental, Physical & Spiritual balancing living art of life with true wisdom. Thus, the meaning of yoga system of medicine is the science of the Mental, Physical & Spiritual life.
It is said that the yoga is as old as humanity. However, the origin of yoga is based in Vedic scientific Veda, which are said to be the oldest classics of the world written more then 20,000 B.C. This was development as an independent scientific system of medicine around the 20000 century B.C. The aim and objective for the development of this system is described as prevention of health of the healthy people and curing the person suffering from disease.
This system deals elaborately with measure of healthy living during the entire span of life and its various phases. Besides dealing with principle for maintenance of health, it has also development a wide range of therapeutic measures to combat illness. The positive health according to yoga is not only free from disease but also includes physical mental spiritual and social welfare of every individual. The definition of social well being adopted by WHO only decade age ago resembles definition of health describing yoga system of medicine.

TRADITIONAL PANCHKARMA TREATMENT

DRINK WATER AND BE HEALTHY
Several chronic diseases for which to cure has been found, can be cured by a simple method called WATER THERAPY. The Japanese Sickness Association confirms that several diseases such as headache, hypertension obesity.
Diabetes, arthritis, rheumatism, sinusitis, rehirutis, bronchitis, bronchial, asthma, hyper acidity, gastritis, dysentery, constipation, irregular menstruation, urogenital problems etc are cured by WATER THERAPY only.
Through it sounds incredible, it has been proved factual and is recommended by several doctors as well. Human health depends mainly on the digestive system. As Swami Paramahamas yoganand said it is over eating all the 365 days of years, that leads to most of the diseases.
Where as drinking ordinary potable water help clean the stomach and enables the intestine to from new fresh blood called haematoposi which in turn fights against the disease causing organisms. Thus may of the ailments are cured by practicing WATER THERAPY.
How to practice
The method of WATER THERAPY is simple, easy and in expensive. Early in the morning, before attending to any of the morning chores, 5 glasses of water (1.26 kg or 1.26ltrs.) should be taken in one stretch. You may give a short break. Do spout walking exercise for a few minutes and complete the rest of water. Take necessary precaution against. Water should be boiled and cooled if purity is suspected.
For the next 45 minutes to one hour after drinking water, no other beverage or eatable should be taken. After supper one should not have any stimulating beverage or a soft drink.
During the first few days of therapy, one may pass urine 3-4 times with in one hour after drinking water. Some may have even loose stools. But in a short period everything comes back to normal and symptoms of relief from the disease will be seen.
Persons suffering from arthritis and rheumatism should take WATER THERAPY three times a day in the first week and thereafter may practice it once a day. While, practice it once a day. While practicing WATER THERAPY water should be taken two hours after each meal and not before that.

FACULTY OF YOGA SYSTEM OF MEDICINE & RESEARCH DIVISION
Short-term yoga system of medicine training course.
A general course is available for all interested aspirants either on a dialy basis or with residential accommodation at the Arogya Ashram. These courses run constantly and range in duration from seven days to six months.
The subject covered and duration of the individual aspirants, and can vary in content from the most radiometry basic practices taught at the simple level to an intense training period in one or more of the most advance disciplines of yoga. It is generally expected that persons coming to attend these courses will make voluntary contributions to the Ashram to cover the cost of their boarding, lodging and other expenses.
The following are a few of the subject, which are regularly taught to aspirants during short term training courses. Hatha Yoga: Asanas, Pranayama. Mudras, Bandhas Hatha Yoga Shatkriyas. Nada Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Japa Yoga, Ajapa Japa, Dhyana Yoga, Antar Mauna, trataka, Chidakssh Darana, Prana Vidya, Laya Yoga, Kriya Yoga, Swadhyaya, Karma Yoga and Samgheet.
From persons with physical or mental ailments or diseases, special training is given in the specific Yogic Kriyas which will aid in the treatment or management of the particular condition to be alleviated. Naturopathic dist regulation and other system are often used along side with yoga in order to simplify and speed up the treatment. In general, these course are intended to teach the sufferer all he needs to know so that he can continue to practice in his own home to achieve success with his particular aliments. These courses vary greatly in duration from one or two days to many month depending on the particular ailment.
The following are few of the conditions, which have been found to be especially amendable to treatment through the practice of yogic Kriyas: blood pressure, coronary ailment asthma. Diabetes mellitus, tuberculosis, ulcers, epilepsy, schizophrenia, polio, chronic dysentery, psychosis, common cold etc.
Yoga System of Medicine Teachers Training Course:
Special course with a minimum of two years duration are available for individuals who wish to dedicate their lives to the teaching and dissemination of the yogic science. In addition to the subjects covered under the heading of short-term yoga training will be given in yoga therapy, yoga theory, spiritual yoga, teaching methodology, naturopathy and other esoteric subject which are necessary for the teaching of yoga. In addition all aspirants in these course will give practical classes to new students at the institution under the guidance of experienced teachers in order to perfect their method of teaching delivery and knowledge of classroom situation upon successful completion of such a course, the aspirant will received a special Yoga Acharya certificate which that he is a qualified and competent teacher for the specific techniques in which he has been trained. This certificate is of great use to those who is to set off on their own teaching yoga as a profession.
