Who is Mitch? Mitch Ramey is a super person who is 60 years young and resides at the Pickaway Manor Nursing Home in Circleville, Ohio. He has both a terrible handicap and a tremendous talent. Mitch has progressive MD with no movement capabilities from his waist down. He barely has enough strength in his hands and arms to feed himself and that’s about it. When the nursing staff put him to bed he is on his back and completely immobile all night. When they get him up in the morning he remains in his wheelchair all day until it’s time to go back to bed again. What is Mitch’s talent? Mitch is a positive Christian who has an unbelievable memory. He has committed to memory many passages of scripture and many poems and enjoys sharing them with others. He is well respected by residents and employees at Pickaway Manor and is often asked to recite a poem or a Bible passage at both small and large group meetings. How can we help Mitch? Mitch needs help in paying for a private room. He had many uneasy days and sleepless nights because of disturbances in his previous room. Also, visitors are encouraged to ask Mitch to recite a poem or a Bible passage and/or to pray for them. That’s part of his ministry, and it is so much better both for Mitch and his visitors to be able to meet without distraction in his own private room. After being on a waiting list for almost year, a room recently became available and Mitch moved in because if he didn't he would be back on the waiting list again. It will cost an additional $15 a day or approximately $465 a month to pay for Mitch's private room. This is money Mitch doesn't have and we're looking for people who want to help. Your gift will be processed through the church’s benevolence fund before sending to Pickaway Manor and is therefore tax deductible. It should help keep track of where we stand in raising sufficient funds to pay for Mitch’s private room each month. A commitment may be made for one year or for as long as you like, but we hope that many of us will be able to continue for as long as Mitch needs a private room.
