This is the life
She woke up in
the night Filled with
nothing but fright.
Tears dried up on
her face.She feels
like such a disgrace.
The car pulls into
the drive way
Her heart starts to race
Where has he been?
Will she be safe?
Why would she stay
in a marriage
filled with hate?
We're her marriage vows
that hard to break?
The door opens up
she hears his footsteps
creep up the stairs,
Should she lie in
bed and pretend he
isn't there? There once
was a time
she had no fear
There was no danger
for her to endear.
What has she done
she cries in her
mind There was a
time when she
only needed herself to
survive. The bedroom
door opens up slowly
She shivers in the
blanket praying boldly.
He gets into bed
and falls fast asleep
She lets out a sign
of relief.Then it
happens she remembers
why she stays
The children down
the hall keep her
from making a get away.
What kind of mother is she?
When she gave birth
to her children she
vowed to them To always
protect them and
keep them from harm.
Now she stays in
constant fear,
never thinking of the
fear the children share.
This is life
she chose to take.
One day it hit her
The truth was told
Her children needed someone
strong with confidence to
free them from this hold.
She picks up her bags with
her children in toe,
Leaving behind a life
that was so cold.
On her own she
will survive,
she's done it
before there's
no need to deny.
This is the life
she chose to take,
This is the answer
only she can make.
