Michelle,
Where are you running to?
My life would be lonely without you.
Michelle, don't run away
Can't you stay just a little while longer?
Michelle would say her prayers at night
Before she went to sleep
For god to protect her from the man
Who hurts her as she sleeps.
She never told a soul afraid of what might happen,
All she ever wanted was to run away.
She was just a child why couldn't he see
Instead of fulfilling his own needs.
She packed her bags and started for the door
While her mother chased her saying these words.
She said:
Michelle,
Where are you running to?
My life would be lonely without you.
Michelle, don't run away
Can't you stay just a little while longer?
As her childhood left her a flower she bloomed
Her mother was the closest friend that she knew.
Her father still visited her in her room.
She had enough still never told, she packed her bags
With her mother in toe
She heard her voice as she ran down the road.
She said:
Michelle,
Where are you running to?
My life would be lonely without you.
Michelle, don't run away
Can't you stay just a little while longer?
Mother was gone and father made her leave.
She got married and started her own family.
Now her daughter is growing up fast
Always wanting her own way
When she doesn't get it she pack's her bags
And say's she's running away.
As Michelle chases her down the street
Her mother comes back to her and repeats
She said:
Michelle,
Where are you running to?
My life would be lonely without you.
Michelle, don't run away
Can't you stay just a little while longer?
