Cigars and Cigarettes
The Facts
Cigarettes and cigars have nicotine. This is why people have a tough time to quit. The statistics say that nicotine is more addictive then cocaine. The best to quit is to get the gum or the patch work wonders. They may be little pricey but I have one question for you! Is money worth more than your life? Okay time for the facts!
Nicotine
Nicotine is very addictive. Nicotine does many things to body. When you first light a cigarette or cigar the nicotine goes straight to the blood stream. Nicotine causes certain glands to release adrenaline. This hormone prepares your body to fight off dangers to your health. This sudden rush of adrenaline keeps a smoker alert. Adrenaline also increases the heart rate and makes the blood vessels of smoker, constrict. Where the smoker holds the cigarette of cigar the blood flow goes there so that part of a smoker is warmer than usual.
Carbon monoxide
Carbon monoxide is deadly gas that is produced by cars. This deadly gas slowly gets in the blood stream and lungs. This binds with the hemoglobin to block oxygen from the body. This makes breathing shorter, vision get worse, hearing loss, and judgement dissipates. This just as bad as standing behind a car for hour getting the same effect as cigarettes of cigars.
Tars
Tars are tiny articles in cigarette smoke that form a sticky mixture in the air passages ways and lungs. This can slowly block the air passages in the lung making breathing harder and harder. A pack ?a-day smoker inhales a cup of tar a year. Little hair like hairs in the lung called cilia clean out the lungs. Since the tar is so heavy the cilia get no time to clean out the lungs. These cilia can be paralyzed or can die. Without the cilia the lungs just keep collecting the tar and people slowly suffocate themselves to death.
Low-Tar, Low-Nicotine Cigarettes
You think that these kinds of cigarettes are safe? Well if you said yes then you lose. These kinds of cigarettes may be better but most smokers smoke more than one to get the craving to go away. This proves that the low-tar, low-nicotine cigarettes may seem better but in the end they are much worse.
Risks and Health Problems
Atherosclerosis-a buildup of fatty material on the artery wall; this slowly cuts off the blood supply to heart tissue, resulting in a heart attack
Cancer-an abnormal, uncontrolled growth of cells that invade and destroy healthy tissue
Leukoplakia-first signs of this disease is white patches on lips, gums, tongue, or inner cheeks; this not a cancer but can cause cancer
Bronchitis-an inflammation of the mucous membrane, and the air passages become clogged with mucus
Emphysema-a disease in which lung tissue is destroyed and air sacs are lost
Stroke-a sudden disruption of the blood supply to a part of the brain
Passive smoking-entering a room filled with contaminated with tobacco smoke
Mainstream smoke-smoke that is inhaled by the smoker
Sidestream smoke-smoke that is at the end of burning cigarette
