Irony is defined as stating something that is opposite in meaning to the thing that you say. It also can be called hypocritical; I dont think so. These two words, however, are being applied to Anti-Anti-Pokemon, better known as AAP. AAP is an irony. It is an irony. The following that are boldfaced are the arguments, and following after it is how it is ironic.
Protecting kids from gory and bloody Anti-Pokemon sites: This is ironic, saying that they are protecting kids. Saying that they are protecting kids makes us want to do it more. Its like breaking the law. There may be harsh punishments, but if theyre not enforced to the full extent, people will still break the laws, unless they are rigidly enforced, with no warnings, no let-offs. Its the harsh reality.
Keeping the fad from fading: This is completely laughable. To understand how this can be, you have to think: why was AAP created? Why, to protect their favorite fad from fading. But in essence, when they are creating these sites, they are, in a way, admitting defeat. They figure (so I think) that their fad has already faded, so they are trying to knock out the sites partially responsible for its demise. I say partially because there are many factors that contributed, like other fads, the decline in games and merchandise, and other things.
To attempt to shut down Anti-Pokemon sites: This goal, a main target for almost all Anti-Anti-Pokemon sites, is very hypocritical [ironic]. When they bomb the guestbooks, forums, and flame sites, it usually gives them backbone, the support to keep it going. Seeing what AAP has done [the only 3-time guestbook flamer knows], it sent me on a writing spree, ripping up more pages than [ever] before. And, now, Im sure: I am now--and will continue to be--Anti-Pokemon.
Making the world a better place by knocking out these morons: Yeah, right, thats not true, whoever came up with that assumption/reason. Theres always something bad. If it isnt Anti-Pokemon, its Bonzi [Pyramid, where the top wins and the lowest loses] schemes, virus creators, or anything else. Now, to talk about the irony of it, by destroying Anti-Pokemon will bring up more and more worse things. The colony of Pokemon haters will become hackers, with their sites gone, is my best guess. AP is like an ever-shifting virus that adapts to its climate. It doesnt stop.
Well succeed with strength in numbers: This, actually, is losing its validity. More and more Pokemon lovers are defecting to other trends, like the increasingly popular Yu-Gi-Oh series, which roared into the U.S. in the fall of 2001. Some [fans] have lost their interest, sold off all their games and trading cards, and are pursuing more varied activities. Anti-Pokemon is still holding out strong with its numbers, and we have the advantage: were not defending a trend; were attacking it.
Its all in the facts, dear reader. The facts, the irony, the argument on my nearly twenty-page site--they point to only one thing. They fuse together in my mind to spell out with one thing: Anti-Anti-Pokemon is not winning.
