This tour brings you to the eastern end of the island. You get a breathtaking view of the seaside a couple hundred feet above sea level from the Toco Lighthouse. To the left of the lighthouse you can journey down a small track to a huge rock overlooking the ocean. Here many islanders fish for the ocassional salmon, snapper, redfish and cavali.
There are lots of smaller beaches before you reach the Toco Lighthouse. The lighthouse is still in use today and is manned by a watchman who ensures that everything is in order. Toco is also home to the nesting leatherback turtles which make their annual trek over many miles of ocean.
After touring the Lighthouse go down to the main beach where you can bathe in the blue waters or just relax on the sand.
The drive from the capital city Portofspain to Toco is about 2 hours driving. |
