It is an up hill battle to get it

The name itself tells us what it's for.All
of who have worked, had a certain amount
of money taken out of their paychecks for
SSDI.It is there should you need it for
part time or permanent disability. Why is it
so hard to get? It is very hard to get, because
when this system was first developed ,people were
not living as long as they do now, and frankly
politicians had a lot to do with it. It's the
same with Medicare.

This is a problem that is not new to most of us.
It happens no matter where you live. There may
be a few rare individuals that were able to
take care of it over the telephone. I, myself
was in the hospital and tried to do it over
the phone, and can you guess what happened?
Denied.
any one who applies for SSDI goes through a
lot of questions that seem to be the size of
a dictionary. A little overstated, but thats
what it seems like. LoL.
Th majority of people are denied the first
time they apply for SSDI. It's pretty much
expected. It seems like they just want to make
you go through hell. You will wait about six
months before you know whether you are denied
or not. This seems to me, to be a very unfair
amount of time to wait. We are applying for this
because we need the money to pay rent, buy food,
medication and etc. If you appeal ,you will go
through the same thing as you did the first time.
Again, most people are denied. At this point, you
are allpwed to get a lawyer which most of us do.
You have to have two denialsbefore you can get
a lawyer. Again, very unfair. During the process
you are sometimes asked to be seen by one of their
doctors, As far as getting SSDI,I don't think
it means a thing.

My cousin is a very brittle diabetic( meaning it
is very hard to control) When he was seen by their

doctor(SSDI DOCTOR) he had a whole in his foot
the size of a quarter. that his doctor said
would take at least a year to heal, only if he
stayed off the foot for the entire time. The SSDi
doctors agreed and wrote that he was unable to
work and would never be able to do so due to
the seriousness of his diabetes. Can you guess
what happened, if you guessed he was denied, you
made a good guess.

The good thing about having a lawyer, is that
most times wit their help, you win your case.
When I went to the lawyer, she came right out
and told me that she doesn't take a case she
feels she won't win. Of course, then she would
not get paid either. The lawyers take the case
on the fact they will win. I must tell you, she
was terrific. Social Security lost my files
twice, and she had tomake uo another one from the
information she had gathered. When I had arrived at
the hearing, once to get back disability benefits
after going back to work, and then to get permanent
disabilitybenefits.
The guard asked me if I was being represented by
anyone. when i gave my lawyer name, i was told to
sit down, I had nothing to worry about.
She had a terrific reputation. If any of you have
to grt a lawyer , don't justtake anyone, be a bit
choosy. If someone can be recogmended to you,it's
even better. sometimes as I was,had a judge that
gave my lawyer a verbal answer on the spot. When
i left, my heart was a little lighter. Yes,they do
get paid out of the money that you receive, but it's
well worth it. You are still coming out ahead of
the game.

Now they are following up on people every couple of
years. Ther are so many people that are frauds, that
the innocent ones have to go through it to.
If you are followed up, just give them the
information they want, don't givr too much, but
definitely don't lie. for example; if you were
asked if you were confined to a wheelchair, just
say yes. Don't volunteer any information. In
other word, keep your answers short.

I hope I have helped you out with this summary,
but if you have any questions, please do not
hesitate to e-mail me at Lobosgirl@aol.com
No questio is too small if it eases your mind.
If I have not already given you the answer, I
will be happy to follow up and get it for you.
