Oct 16,2006 Really if you are handsome or beautiful ,depending on your gender,
you really will still attract the opposite sex regardlees if you in a wheelchair
wearing braces and using crutches.June 25,2008
I'm discovering this fact regularly.
RET
UPdate; Sept.5,2000----- A friend of mine age 35 with severe MS had
to give up sex and break an engagement. He really was very sad about the
whole situation. The media pumps up sex in all the movies,tv shows and
advertizments. Actually there are more disabled not particapating in
traditional sex that most people realize. It's no shame to have nerve
problems . I have had such now for a long time and it gets worse with
progression. I try not to let SPMS bother me . I still enjoy life, but a
different sort than shown on the media. The way I dress I consider sexy.
I think sex but can't produce the erection. I enjoy the jokes,I can talk
a good sex with a woman. All of them that know me know I can't get it up and
they know MS will never go away. Women feel safe with me and we can be more our
selves with out worry of where it can lead. After being erectionless for
several years It doesn't bother me any more. It doesn't bother my wife any more
either. We kiss, hug,and do other things. But she also is medicated for heart
problems and doesn't have a sex drive either. There is in the disabled world
perfect partners. We can enjoy al lot of other things not yet discovered
by the sexed world.
I can enjoy the company of many women because of the condition I'm in
because of my neurological problems. My wife doesn't worry about me going
too far with them, because I can't.I'm safe. And oddly a whole new world of
excitement and friendship opens up to some of us.
The male erection problem is hindered by
the drugs you take. Such as baclofen, clonazpan,
and other nerve relaxers.
Aside from the penis pump which the wife
laughts at the idea, what's a fellow to do?
I stop taking the pills that relax and
put up with the spaciticity.Take time to
play a bit . There are drugs out to enhance
your chances. See your urologist for a
prescription. Personally I prefer to limit
the drugs I take.Saw Palmetto capsules are good.
They help me. Many now take Viagra.
Playing about a bit helps to prepair the mind.
Actually that is where it starts.
There is a physical disabilities board
on AOL that is listed as "Sex is 99% mental"
I agree the motto is correct.
For some it take cuddling and play to boast
them up mentally.
Dr. Nancy Holland in the March 1998
issue of "Real Living with MS", states
that sexual dysfunction in males with ms
can start very early in the disease.
Further she says that fatigue can be one
of the main problems. I have found this
to be true. I'm best for the game after
a little rest.
Dr Holland thinks that couples get a
feeling of emotional isolation from each
other as MS starts to progress. THis is
why divorce is all too common in marrages
where one of the partners has MS.It is
considerablely higher than the general
population.
For a man with MS, doubts of his
masculinity start to creep into his head
if he is dysfunctional. This will further
complicate the complete sexual act.
Remember that mS is mainly the disease
of younger adults.
There are "vascular clinics' that you can
get treated for impotency. Or you can get
back to the pump.
Frequently the bladder and bowel control
can mentally put a damper on sex both male
and female.
But in the end we must conclude that the
longer a man waits to get treatment ,the
more than likely there will be damage of a
perminent nature to the inactive blood
vessels that creats the erection and keeps
it sustained through the compleation of
the whole sexual act.
THe blood flow to the penis can be checked
by the doppler ultrasound method. the
arteries maybe blocked or nearly so.
This can be treated. but with MS it is
usually a neurological damage problem.
If the male is a smoker or heavy drinker
he should consider quiting as these vices
will add to the dysfunctional problem.
Currently there are several pills that
your doctor can prescribe. They are Sildenafin, phentolamine, a close relative
to morphine but with out the
addictive chances. There are several drugs
that are under study that are due to come
out soon.
" Only when we grow weary enogh of our
present situation are we likely to seek
and risk change" from Maxie Dunnan's book,
" Let Me Say It Again" |
If you become like myself where the plaques are concentrated in the lower
part of of my spine,it has made me into almost a non walker. No special
meds will raise me up any more.
Cuddling and kissing and massague has taken its place.
I still seem to remain attractive for my age and easily get female attention.
Remember social flurting is actually more important to some than
actual intercourse. Its social intercourse that may really desire. Aug 15,2007
