Update;Jan.12,2001 "Awaking to Disability" by Karen G. Stone
order at her web site www.nmia.com/~kgstone
or throught Amazon Cost for paper back is $14.95 + handling

A must read book, it is short and easy to read , no big words
and very down to earth." Don't Sweat The Small Stuff... And it Is all
small stuff" It a best seller and is in large print, other wise
I wouldn't have read it.Richard Carlson is the author. While he never
mentioned MS I got the feeling many times It well could have been
writen for us. It was of special value to me as I just
recently started using a wheelchair full time. Worry about
such is now water over the dam and I'm not letting it be a
burden to me. Actually it has made life easier.RET 12-14-2000

KALEIDOSCOPE a semi annual magazine

I have mentioned this publication before,
but I just can't say enought about the
semi annual lierature, fine arts and
disability magazine called Kaleidoscope.
I have taken it since we lived in the
Akron Ohio area 11 years ago. It has
improved with age!

The writers and art contributers are all
very well educated and a credit to their
learned fields.

They don't contribute to the magazine to
make money. It is a labor of love.
many of the success stories are MS affected
people. the major emphasis is for those of us
who use wheelchairs. The humor is great.
to subscibe see their websitewww.accentonliving.com

$4.00 will get you a sample copy but $9.00
will get you a years' subscription of two
issues . They really do a very professional
job. It's a shame you can't get this one at
some of the big news stands. Considering some
of the junk they sell , this publication would
be a diamond.

They have no web site that I know about
but I'm checking on that and will update this
page if they do.
You can contact them by phone during regular
business hours in the eastern time zone 9 to5
Or send your check of $9 to
United Disability Services Inc.

Neale Walsch has out three books in a series
all titled "Conversations with God". I have read
all three . He definately has a lot to say about
the powers we humans have. While I can't
agree with him 100% and many doubt that all
the words he says God told him are really
God's, he definately has prayed on the topics
and has had a lot of real answers from God.
Many people have received messages from God on
many of the same topics. Never the less I think
you should read at least one of his books, start
with vol. one, and if your interest is sustained
go to the others. He also has a web site.

you call this number.1-800-532-8663
One of my prize MS books from them is:
Multiple Sclerosis Questions and answers by Rosalind Kalb

Books that I have read and enjoyed
"Journey to Wholeness"
by Barbara Marie Brewster
She is a lady with MS, and throught her
experimentation with various alternate
medical approches has inproved her condition.
Every one in a while I use a quote from her
book in the thought for the day. Book sells
for $14.95, but your library might have it
also

Another book that I quote from is
Maxie Dunnam's
"Let Me Say That Again" This is a small book
only about 100 pages. Each page has one or two
thoughts. It is also in big print.Nearly all
the quotes are of a religious nature.
I think I paid about $10 for the book.Upper
Room Books is the only place I know you can
get the book.Their phone is
1-800-925-6847 They are also the publishers

One of the quarterly magazines I enjoy and have taken
for many years is "Accent on Living"
It is mainly for those of us that are wheelchair
users. To subscribe see their web site
www.accentonliving.com

for the "Upper Room Daily devotions" which you
can get in large print.($8.95 per year)

"Plain Text" by Nancy Mairs This is an
interesting story of her life, as it
relates to her struggle with MS. her books
are sold throught the University Of Arizona
Press, 1230 N. Park Ave. Suite 102
Tucson ,Az 85719. Her books are in many
libraries . So check under her name in either

their card catalog or their computer.
Computers have come to most libraries.

A book on Garlic!
"The Healing Benefits of Garlic" by
John Heinerman,Ph.D He also has another
book called "The complete book of
Herbs And Spices"
This Garlic book is worth your time to
read if you believe that herbs can heal.
He tells how the Russians concocted a
garlic + vodka mixture for some of their
MS people. Sorry this book has no large print
editions.

"Is Progress Speeding Up?"
by Sir John Templeton
His book on the future of this country and
it's blessing was so up beat that no publisher
would handle it. So He did it himself.
You will feel good as you read this book .
It will chase the blues away. Jimmy Carter
even make a remark on the outer cover.

en.able magazine is good
This magazine en'able is good . I get it
and it is a good source of ideas for this
MS page. but it covers the whole
physically disabled world.They write on
government jobs,
new products, non government jobs,health
and nutrition,
housing, fashion, the arts, travel, sports
and recreation.
They will send you a free sample copy. write
and ask, sorry no telephone numbers. If I
get one or a web site ,I'll pass it along.
but write ; Enable Magazine ,suite 120.
