1. KOTE NAGE (Goshin Jutsu: Shodan Series)
In the first set of photographs at the top of this page the technique is a wrist throw (Kote Nage). There are a variety of Wrist throws (Kote Nage) in Nihon Go Shin Kage Ryu Mutou, the most basic version is done from a standing attack, and involves a Tenkan (see 4 below)and then moves into a kneeling position to perform a throw. In this particular version, the whole technique is done standing and involves a complete turn by Tori (Person performing technique). Tori faces Uke and at point where a grip is placed on Tori's wrist this is secured by Tori who turns to face the same direction as Uke whilst at the same time throwing him. This technique and teh otehr version described in this paragraph are part of the Shodan Ge series of techniques.

2. TE GAESHI (KOTE GAESHI):
The technique shown in teh second set of photographs demonstrates an outer wrist turn, In this praticulatr version Uke grabs Tori's lapel (Mune Osae Dori) and attempts to perform a strike to the face (Choku Zuki Jodan), Tori utilises Shuto Uchi Uke (Knife hand inside block) causing a temporary paralysis of the arm (Kyusho), Then the grabbing wrist is turned by the other hand as Tori performs a Tenkan, bringing Uke to the floor. Tori's body is moving through out the whole of the technique.

3. OGAMI TE SHIKORU NAGE (Goshin Jutsu: Shodan Series & Ogami Te):
This is a head/neck throw, Shikuro refers to the part of the armour worn around the shoulders. In this technique part of the Goshin Jutsu section of Nihon Goshin Kage Ryu Ju Jutsu, the throw is performed as part of an escape to an under arm grab, where Tori steps back and past Uke,whilst at the same time reaching over grabbing Ukes head and going down on one knee. This particular technique is from the Shodan series of techniques and is one variation of the technique described for the first set of photographs. The last photo in this series shows the hand position for Ogami Te (Prayer Hand).

4. NAGE TE (NGSKR Mutou)
The photo sequence shown in the photos directly above this writing (The fourth set of photos on this page) involves the principle of Ju or to yield, as the one who initiates the attack, known as Uke moves forward, Tori (The one defending) steps back and off to the side alllowing for Uke's energy to carry forward, Tori yields to Uke's attack and merely moves into a position to redirect the motion of Uke. Tori is the one who leads Uke's attack out of the square of light on the mat and directs him into darkness. This is in the first three photographs of this sequence(Photos 1 to 3) and is called Tenkan (To step away). A beginner would learn to take Uke to the floor face down and lock the arm from this position using the hands or knees This technique is one of a series of Grappling hand techniques (Tori Te) known as the Shodan series of techniques. In the particular sequence in the photos above (4 & 5) the technique shows an entry technique (Irimi) done from the Tenkan position (Photos 1 to 3) in order to perform Nage Te (Throwing hand) This is a characteristic of one of the principles from Nihon Go Shin Ryu Mu Tou .

5. MUTOU DORI
The series of photographs directly below this writing demonstrate one version of a technique practised in Nihon Go Shin Kage Ryu Mutou, The term Muto means to have no sword, this implies that one should be able to deal with an opponent who is wielding a weapon when you yourself are disarmed. It can, as it often does in Mutou, involve gaining control of the weapon by controlling the person who is holding that weapon. In this particular sequence some Te grips are applied to the opponents wrists.

6. KASSHEN TE
In the series of photogarphs below the Mutou technique, where there is Olive and Red mats. A Te entry technique is performed (Photos 1 & 2 show two different angles) followed by some gentle wrist manipulations (Third photo). The emphasis here is on relaxing the partner, hence the knee supports the back of the person who is receiving the technique (Uke).

7. SO-JO KATA (NGSKR Kobu Jutsu).
The first two photographs show two different angles on one move in the kata. The sword is off to the side as the Jo (Staff) has knocked it away before piercing the throat, the piercing of the throat is a spear (So Jo) technique. Following this is the position for the throw with the staff. This technique is fairly advanced in the syllabus on Nihon Go Shin Kage Ryu.

8. KOSHI KOMI NAGE (Hakuda Ryu Kempo)
This is the very last series of photographs at the bottom of this page. Koshi Komi Nage is often translated as Reverse Hip Throw, we call it Reverse Cross Buttocks Throw. This is the last of the series of techniques from the Ko Kami No Kata Shodan of Hakuda Ryu Kempo Jutsu. Photos 1 & 2 in the series involve blocking and redirecting the attack, whilst at the same time striking the ribs with a back fist (Uraken) and attacking the arm with the forearm or elbow, whilst at the same time stepping inside and past Uke's body to perform a kick (Photo 3) which provides a foot position to step past (Photo 4) and unbalance him (photo 5) and throw Uke to the ground (Photos 6 - 10).
