Cleansing & Consecration

WATER
The easiest way to cleanse your crystals is to put them under some type of running water ( I prefer distilled myself) and as the water flows over them, visualize all the negativity and/or old energies flowing down the drain with the water. I personally do each of mine individually, but they can all be done at once if time is tight.

SUNLIGHT
This next technique comes from Scott Cunningham's book entitled Crystal , Gem and Metal Magic, Chapter 7, page 31 entitled Cleansing the Stones.
"The simplest is to place the stones in full sunlight for a day, three days or even a week. The Sun's rays do the work here, burning away the unnecessary energies. Place the stones in direct sunlight. An inside window ledge isn't as good as an outdoor location because window glass blocks some of the Sun's rays. Remove the stones each day at dusk. Some stones will be 'clear' after a day's soaking up the rays. Others will need longer periods of time. Check the stones daily and sense the energies within them by placing them in your receptive hand. If the vibrations are regular, healthy, the cleansing has been successful."
*NOTE -some stones fade in the sunlight. For example, Fluorite and Amethyst. Please be aware and do not leave them out for a long period of time.

SIMPLE PROGRAMMING
1. Clear the crystal that is to be programmed.
2. Hold the crystal in your both of your hands while gazing into it.
3. Center yourself and clear your mind.Concentrate on that with which you intend to program the crystal.
4. As you retain your concentration, inhale and forcefully exhale through your mouth. It is as if you are blowing your intention into the crystal.
5. Continue this process until you feel satisfied that you have completely filled the crystal with your intention.

RICE
"Soak the crystal in brown rice for twenty-four hours, the rice balances and centers the energy, removing the negativity, while dissipating and transforming the negative to the positive. Upon completion of the 'soak' the rice is purified and energized and is quite wonderful to eat."

FLOWERS
"Soak the crystal in flowers [e.g., rose petals, orange blossoms, honeysuckle, etc.] for twenty four hours; the essence strips away negativity and cleanses the stone while the purity and energy of the flower is transmitted to the stone

SMUDGING
Using sage, sweet grass or other smudging herb, simply light the sage (for example) and allow it to smoke in your bowl or abalone shell. You can either pass each stone over the smoke or use your sacred feather to "brush" the smoke over the stone. Visualizing the negative energies rising and disappearing with the smoke is helpful. Here is some additional information on Smudge sticks: "The smudge stick is used to purify with the smoke of certain sacred herbs such as cedar, sage and sweetgrass. The American Indians believe that if cedar is burned before they say their prayers in faith, that the Great Father will surely hear and answer. Sage acts to draw out negativity. Cedar and sweetgrass attract positive energies. Sweetgrass has been used for centuries by native peoples of all tribes to attract 'sweet spirits'. Burn smudge sticks to cleanse crystals and stones, to purify your body, your environment, and gifts that you receive or give to others. Smudge sticks may be burned in teh car before driving, with a prayer for a safe journey. Smudge sticks will usually go out by themselves after a few moments of smoldering smoke, but always place in a flameproof container to insure complete safety."

WATER
Another form of the water cleansing technique is to place the crystal/stones in a spring, river or lake for twenty four hours. Then place in the sun for energizing.

FIRE
Passing the stone/crystal through the flame of a candle will also purify and cleanse.

LIGHT
If you are a good visualizer or meditator, you can choose to surround your crystal/stone with white light. As you do this, you may want to state your intention, such as: " I ask that the white (or golden) light clean this beloved crystal of all negativity and transform such into positive and loving energies. So be it, So be it, So be it."

EARTH
Bury your stones/crystals in the earth and allow them to stay until your intuition urges you to bring them back up (usually one to three days is average). The energies of the earth will assist in removing all older and negative energies.

PROGRAMMING
".... Formulate a precise phrase which accurately describes the nature of the programming [i.e., angelic/other-worldly communication, harmony, balance, love, special healing or protection for someone, etc].
Hold the crystal in the left hand [if left-handed, hold the crystal in the right hand], relax for several minutes, initiate circular breathing, and center the consciousness. Consciously align the personal conscious awareness with the higher self and/or other predefined appropriate other-worldly beings.
Ask for guidance, protection, and assistance in the programming process. Open the center of consciousness and allow receptivity to flow through the inner being.
Repeat the formulated phrase 20-30 times in succession while visualizing and/or feeling the desired effect of the program. [Be open to higher assistance during this process]. **As the phrase is repeated, an energy field will build and culminate in the energy pattern necessary to represent the desired program.

While maintaining full awareness of the energy field, bring total awareness and consciousness to the area of the third-eye or heart chakra. Place the crystal in front of the area of the third-eye or heart chakra and allow the self to feel the connection with it.
Direct the energy field into the crystal for 30-60 seconds and allow the program to be transferred to within the crystal. Intuitive recognition will signal when the transmittal is complete.

Mojo Bags And Scrying

MoJo's & Gris Gris

An odd numbered mixture of herbs, talismans, roots, powders & stones in a muslin, flannel,felt or chamois bag that should be carried with you at all times to get a specific desired effect. That is a MoJo (or gris-gris ) Bag.

Also known as an "Ouanga" ,"Conjure" or "Medicine" bag ,regardless of the area in which the name was derived or the culture you may be familiar with ,they are all used for the same basic thing & prescribe to the same basic principle; To attract to or dispel from the wearer, certain influences. Thus they can be made for just about any purpose under the sun. They imply faith and serve as a link beween that in which you beleive and that which you desire.

MoJo Bags are usually worn around the neck or pinned inside the undergarments so that they are in touch with your skin. With women ,it is believed that the best area of placement is near the left armpit so that it is close to the heart or between the breasts for the same reason. However ,in a pocket is also fine in any case. Some are also hung near a persons house or under their steps etc..so that they will come into contact with or walk over it daily. This is usually done with mojo's to enchant or hex someone without them knowing it.

CRYSTAL SCRYING

The ancient art of crystal scrying is a form of divination popular amoung most modern Witches & Neo-Pagans.

Crystal Balls come in all sizes, shapes, and colors. For scrying, clear or black balls are highly recommended. Prices vary.

If unable to invest in one, there are easy at home uses. Homemade magick mirrors, glass fishing floats, a bowl filled with water [Moon Water] is best used or spring water, with a drop of black ink or oil. The candles flame, or the fire in your fireplace.

Consecrate your crystal ball first with salt and water; and then, using your athame, dedicate it as a tool of divination in the name of the Goddess. Next cup the crystal in your hands and charge or magnetize it with your own psychic energies. This can be easily done by simply visualizing a white beam of light flowing from your hands and Third Eye also Fourth Eye [located directly under your Third eye] into the crystal ball. This should be done often, especially before each scrying to " recharge" the crystal ball.

It is important to keep the crystal ball free of dust particles and fingerprints. Do not place it in direct sunlight and never use a waxy furniture polish or hot water to clean it.

To properly and safely care for your crystal ball, I recommened that you use a solution of equal parts lukewarm water and white vinegar. This will remove any accumulated dust and dirt without damaging the fragile crystal. Wipe it dry with a clean cloth or paper towel, and then polish it with a chamois.

It should be covered by a black silk handkerchief anytime it is not in use, and you should take care to never permit any hands other than your own to touch or handle it in any way. If the crystal ball is touched or picked up by someone else and you feel that its occult vibrations have been distrubed or dimished, you will have to consecrate it all over again and then recharge it with your own psychic energies.

Always perform scrying in quiet, undisturbed place. It may be done at any time of the day or night; however, Full Moons, rainy days, early mornings are best for clairvoyant energies, and they are stronger in these conditions.

Place it on a stand unless it has a flat bottom. Set it about two feet away from you. Sit in a comfortable chair and focus your eyes and mind upon the crystal ball. It is vitally important that you are completely relaxed when you do this and that your mind is free from negative or distracting thoughts that may interfere with your powers of concentration.

Crystal scrying is an art that often takes practice and patience. You do not always see anything until after performing this ceremony after several sessions. The more you do it the more open and responsive your claivoyant powers will become, and the less time to develop these powers as well.

The most commonly seen phenomenia in a crystal ball, especially to novice scryers, are clouds which often take on the clouds and the direction in which they move are highly significant:

White: are favorable omens indicating good luck, good health, purity, and Goddess-energy.

Black or Dark Colored: are unfavorable or bad omens. It is wise to exercise extreme caution in all that you do whenever they appear in a crystal ball.

Blue: are indication that honor and praise lie ahead for you. Peace and tranquility may also be symbolized.

Red: usually indicate impending dangers such as accidents, fires, or grave illness. Sometimes clouds of this color represent passion and sexuality. In order to make an accurate interpretation, you must take into consideration any other symbols or visions that may appear, and use your own intuitive feelings.

Yellow: indicate a trusted friend or business acquaintance will betray you.

Orange: indicates that a loss of some kind will take place in the near future.

Green: indicates financial gain and success. They may also mean fertility by nature.

Pink: indicates the presence of love or the posibility of a romantic love affair in the near future.

Violet: indicate spiritual strength, psychic growth, and enlightenment.

If the clouds are moving to the right in the crystal ball, it is an indication that benign spirits are present and are willing and able to guide the scryer.

To the left in the crystal ball, it is an indicatin that the spirits are unwilling or unable to guide the scryer.

If moving in an upward direction in the crystal ball after a specfic question has been asked, it is an indication that the answer is Yes.
Downward the answer to your question is No.

In addition clouds may appear in images [both actual and symbolic] may also appear as you gaze into the crystal ball. Images of a symbolic nature, usually combined with a significant color, tend to manifest at the right side of the crystal ball, while actual images of people, places, and things usually appear at the left side.

Use your intuition in all that you use in divination.
