This is just some of the lingo you will probably come in contact with during your studies:

ALTAR: a speacial, flat surface set aside exclusively for magikal workings or religious acknowledgement.
AMULET: an object of protection that has been charged to deflect negative energies.
ANKH: cross with a loop at the top. Egyptian hieroglyphic that is a symbol for life, love and reincarnation.
ASTRAL: to keep it simple, another realm of thought, another dimension of reality
ASTRAL PROJECTION: the process of seperating your astral body from your physical body to accomplish travel in the astral plane
ATHAME: a cleansed and consecrated ceremonial double-bladed knife used in ritual workings (usually has a black handle)
BANE: another word for bad, evil, and destructive.
BANISH: to magikally end somethnig or exorcise unwanted entities. To rid the presence of.
BIND: to use magik to restrain something or someone with negative intentions
BOOK OF SHADOWS: a collection of information, spells, rituals, and experiences
BOLLINE: a curved white-handled knife used for practical magikal purposes, such as cuttting
CHAKRAS: seven major energy vortexes found in the human body.
CHARMS: can be an amulet or talisman that has been charmed by saying an incantaion over it and instilling it with energy for a specific task
CONE OF POWER: psychic energy raised and focused by either an individual or group to achieve a definite purpose
CLEANSING: the act of removing any negative energy from and object or place by utilizing positive energy
CONSECRATION: the act of blessing an object or place by instilling it with positive energy
COVEN: a group of witches that work togetherto perform positive magik or perform religious ceremonies.
DEOSIL: clockwise movement. Many ceremonies and spells call for deosil movement at some point
DIVINATION: using tools and symbols to gather information of the nature of people, places, and events in the past, present, and future
DOWSING: using a pendulum or stik to find the actual location of something. Also used to answer yes or no questions
DRAWING DOWN THE MOON: a ritual used by witches during the full moon to empower them and unite them with the Goddess
ELEMENTS: usually counted as four: Earth, Air, Fire, Water. Each also has a direction within the magikal circle. East-Air, South-Fire, West-Water, North-Earth
FAMILIAR: an animal who has a spiritual bond with a Witch, can also be entities who are created to protect your home from the astral.
HANDFASTING: a Wiccan or Pagan marriage ceremony
INVOCATION: to bring something in from without
MAGIK: the projection of natural energies to produce needed effects
PENTAGRAM: a circle surrounding an upright, five pointed star. Each point has a specific meaning, Spirit, Earth, Air, Water, and Fire. Worn as a symbol of our beliefs and protection
RITUAL: a focused mental/physical ceremony to either honor or thank the Lord and Lady or to perform a specific magikal act
RUNES: a set of symbols that are used in divination and magikal workings
SCRYING: diving using tools such as fire, water, or a mirror where the diviner sees normal pictures, mental pictures, or information with no pictures at all
SPELL: extended energy spoken aloud, written, spoken to ones self, drawn, or even danced. The need must be present to bring any spell to success
TALISMAN: an object that has been magikally charged in order to bring something to the wearer.
WEBWEAVING: networking with others through conversation, in writing or through the computer to gather information to assist in studies
WHEEL OF THE YEAR: one full cycle of the seasonla year, begining with Samhain
WIDDERSHINS: counterclockwise motion used in some magikal workings or ceremonies
