 He is one of the original characters of the series. He was too shy to speak to a woman, so he wanted to obtain a girlfriend by wishing for one from the eternal dragon. It was love at first site between him and Bulma. The two of them became a couple for many years. However, Bulma ended up with Vegeta instead.
