 Kami and Piccolo are really one person. Long ago he split into two entities, Kami the good and Piccolo the evil. Goku killed the original Piccolo in DragonBall but he created an egg which grew into the new one. Because of the link between Kami and Piccolo, if one gets killed they both die. Also, since Kami created the Earth's Dragon Balls, if he dies the balls cease to function. Kami trains the Z Warriors in the Pendulum Room. The Pendulum Room is the center of all past, present and future. Kami lives a floating tower high above the Earth where he watches over what's happening. He has some ability to see into the future and can sense the good changes in the newer Piccolo. Piccolo trains Gohan and continues to train becoming just as strong as the Super Saiyans. Later Kami and Piccolo fuse to become stronger.
