| Grand Theft Auto III Grand Theft Auto III was the first Grand Theft Auto game to appear on the PS2, and was certainly a big leap. The game was now in 3D, and took place in Liberty City which was in the first game. There were a lot of new weapons, gangs and places to explore. Players performed missions for crime bosses, and worked their way up the Criminal Hierachy. Gangs no longer worked on respect, they now would hate you if you did certain missions, unfortunatley nearly all of the gangs wanted to kill you. The game really made Rockstar it's fortune, until Vice City Came Out.
