Peoples Republic of China
Chinese Panda Bears
The Chinese Panda Bears were first issued in 1982. In gold the sizes are 1/20, 1/10, 1/4 1/2 and 1 ounce. Larger gold Panda's are also minted in some years. The 1/20 ounce gold was not minted in 1982. 1987 is the only year in the Panda series that the coins were minted at two mints. 1987 Panda's have S and Y mint marks and are the only year to have mint marks. Chinese Panda Bears are also minted in platinum and silver. All Chinese Panda Bears have the same reverse design with only the date differing for each year. For Panda coin mintages see the chart at the end of this page.
