Earth Dragon Balls

Earth's Dragon Balls were created by the guardian of earth himself, Kami-sama. He made the Earth Dragon Balls after he parted with his evil half. Earth's Dragon Balls are in sphere shape, and are about the size of a fist. They are orange in color, and have a little red star in the middle. When all seven Dragon Balls are brought together, a special phrase will awaken the Eternal Dragon, Shenron. Shenron was also created by Kami-sama's good half. In the Japenese version of Dragon Ball, saying "Ide yo Doragon (Come out Dragon)" would release him from the Dragon Balls. In the U.S. dub, saying "Come out Shenron and grant my wish" would release him from the Dragon Balls. Then, Shenron would emerge from the Dragon Balls, and supposedly (I'm saying supposedly because he had to refuse a few wishes) grant a wish to anyone who asked it. After the wish has been fulfilled, the Dragon Balls would scatter across Earth and turn to stone for one (1) year. The Earth Dragon Balls can only exist on Earth as long as its creator (in this case, Kami-sama) is still alive. So, since Kami-sama and Piccolo are the same person, if Piccolo dies, Kami does too. This happened before, when Piccolo and Kami died, the Dragon Balls turned to stone untill Piccolo was brought to life. Another time the Dragon Balls turned to stone was when Kami-sama and Piccolo fused, but Gokou got Dende to take over Kami's place, so the Earth Dragon Balls would be restored. Dende was also able to change the ruules of the Earth Dragon Balls, so that they were able to grant three (3) wishes instead of one (1).

Namekian Dragon Balls

The Original Dragon, Porunga, created by Saichouro (after Saichouro died, of natural causes, the role of "dragon keeper" was given to Muri - a Namek elder). With Porunga, was created the Namek Dragon Balls. The Namek Dragon Balls look exactly the same as the Earth Dragon Balls, but they're about the size of basket balls. The Namek Dragon Balls are able to grant three (3) wishes to whoever obtains all seven. To call out Porunga (the Namek Dragon Ball Eternal Dragon), you would have to recite, "Takartoto Popporunga Pupiritoparo", which is in the Namekian language. After the three (3) wishes have been fulfilled, the Dragon Balls would scatter around Planet Namek and turn to stone for one hundred thirty-six (136) days. Further on in the Dragon Ball Z series, (or simply in the Dragon Ball series in the manga,) the Namekian beings were able to 'upgrade' Porunga, making him much stronger and making him able to grant wishes that he couldn't have granted previously before, like able to revive a large amount of people.

Black Star Dragon Balls

The Black Star Dragon Balls only appeared in the Dragon Ball: Grand Tour (GT) series. They were created by Piccolo the Demon King (Piccolo's father). The Black Star Dragon NBalls are much more powerful than any other Dragon Balls created. They are like the other Dragon Balls, but they have black stars inside, instead of the previous red. The Black Star Dragon Balls can only fulfill one (1) wish, and when the wish has been granted, the Ultimate Shenron would appear. After the wish has been made, the Black Star Dragon Balls would scatter across the universe. When a wish was made from the Black Star Dragon Balls, its power was so great, that it caused the Earth to self destruct.
