Denham Church

Denham Church stands in the small village of Denham st mary in Suffolk. Nearby stands Denham Hall which is divided into a number of flats. Both the church, the hall and the area surrounding them, have been the scene of many paranormal events over the years.
there are at least eleven different ghosts in and around the hall, including a monk who walks an old footpath, a lady who walks over a bridge, another ghostly lady who walks out of the church gate just as you walk, past ,,my dog hated walking past this gate..A misty figure that floats down a steep hill leading from the church, also on this hill are two very evil looking red eyes in the steep bank of the hill which appear from time to time, there is also a cold spot nearby
Yet another ghostly lady who walks up the path of an old cottage at the foot of the hill, also another lady ghost in victorian clothes is seen in daylight walking the gardens of the hall.
A very recent report has come in of a farm workers ghost that has been seen by locals around the farm buildings, he died around 1920 in a rather nasty accident in which he lost his head under the wheels of a horse drawn cart , it is said his ghost is headless. There is also a ghost of a former parson in the church, which can be heard slamming doors and walking around
there is also a strange chanting which can be heard from outside the church, if the door is opened it will stop.
There is a procession of ghostly monks and villagers who walk from Denham Castle to the church once a year.
There is also a number of strange things in the hall including strange coloured lights which move around the walls,a blood stain on the floor which comes and goes , ghostly footsteps and wisperings within the hall plus a number of other ghostly things, a ghostly black dog and two figures can been seen on the road leading to Denham on cold winter evenings.
But by far the most interesting haunting is THE CHAIN! Which can be heard dragging along the road from the church, it stops at a spot which was a crossroads many years ago, when it stops there is a luminous ball which hovers around one metre above the ground for five or six minutes before it fades away,i have researched this case and found a very interesting story to this haunting A young girl approx sixteen lived in the village, she was very beautiful, all the local men fell in love with her,but the wives and girlfrends were not happy, so they said she must be a witch as she was bewitching the menfolk of the village. she was found guilty of witchcraft , locked in the church for a number of days awaiting her fate. She was then bound in chains, dragged down the road, thrown into a well to drown, then hauled out, dragged down the road to the crossroads and buried, she was dug up many years later by workmen, her remains were still in chains, she was given a full christian burial in a churchyard nr Bury st Edmunds..........But the Ghostly Chains can be heard to this day!
SO I THINK BORLEY COMES SECOND IN HAUNTINGS .....DON;T YOU!
