Two Basic Chords
CHORDS

NEW! Poetry and Doll Maker with Galleries!     [Learn About Our Ecommerce]
Graphics Gallery!

in each key there are two basic chords
one of them has the same name as the key

in the key of C one basic chord is C
in the key of D one basic chord is D
in the key of G one basic chord is G
in the key of A one basic chord is A
and so on.

the other chord is the seventh chord and it's called the "dominant seventh"
to find the name of this chord, start with the name of the key. call the "key chord" 1 and count up the alphabet until you reach 5
example: key of C--- C, D, E, F, G
1 2 3 4 5
the 5th letter is G so you add a 7 behind it: G7
as i told you before, the musical alphabet only uses A through G
so after G start the alphabet all over again:
A, B, C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C, ect.
