Affidavit Thomas Watson states that he is a citizen of Casey County in the State of Kentucky, that his age is 56 years. That he was Captain of Company D of the 13th Regt Kentucky Cavalry Vol. Lately mustered out of the service of the United States. That George T. Rigney desd. was the 2nd Lieut. of said Company commanded by affidavit, that George T. Rigney whose widow Jane Rigney is an applicant for pension is the identical George T. Rigney who was regularly mustered into the United States service as 2nd Lieut Co D 13th Reg Ky Cav Vol at Columbia Kentucky in the 23d day of December 1863 for one year having been enrolled on the 28th day of October 1863. And who was regularly mustered out as 2nd Lieut of said Co D 13 Reg Ky Cav Vol on the 10th day of January 1865 at Camp Nelson in the State of Kentucky. He Was on of the expiration of term of service, and that said George T. Rigney was personally known to me before he entered the United States service, and that he was a well, stout and able bodied man, and I have no interest in this claim.

Affidavits Silas Adams(?) and Madison Wall states that they are citizens of Casey County and State of Kentucky, That they are and were personally acquainted with George T. Rigney Desc late 2nd Lieut in Company D 13th Reg Ky Cav Vol at the time he entered the United States service and had been intimately acquainted with him for many years before he volunteered in said service, and knows that he was a sound healthy and able bodied man when he entered said service, and that they are disinterested in this claim of Jane Rigney for pension as widow of George T. Rigney Desc late of Co D 13th Reg Ky Cav Vols.

Affidavits Mary Ann Rigney and Jane Watson state that they are citizens of Casey County and State of Kentucky, that their respective ages are 67 and 56 years. That they were personally acquainted with George T. Rigney descd late of Co D. 13th Reg Ky Cavalry and with his family and has been for many years. That said George T. Rigney died leaving Jane Rigney his widow, who is now living in Casey Co., KY & is a widow & has remained a widow since the death of her husband. That said soldier died leaving the following children under 16 years of age at his death to wife Mahala Jane born Febu 25th day 1854.
Sinthy Ann born March 2 18555. Robert M. born 7 Nov 1860 and George Marion born the 5th day of March 1865. And Mary Ann Ele (of a former marriage born 7th day of November 1849((this is marked out)) also by former marriage deceased wife the following children over sixteen years of age surviving him by a former marriage to wife. John F. born Oct 10 day 1842.
Adon J born March 23 day 1845. Josiah born April the 3d day 1847. They further said that Mahala Jane above named born Febru 25 day 1854 was a child of a former marriage, affidavits states that the above are all the legitimate
children of the deceased soldier known to them that their knowledge of the ages of said children is derived from an intimate acquaintance with the parents and the children and that children, being near neighbors and having known the minor
children who were under sixteen years of age as the fathers death, from their births. And that we have no interest in this claim direct or indirect.

Affidavit Thomas Watson states that he was Captain of Co D 13th Reg Ky Cavalry Vol lately mustered out of the United States service. That George T. Rigney was 2nd Lieut in said Company and as such while inline of duty, he was taken sick of the disease of (some disease caused by exposure) and which disease was contracted while in the military service of the United States from exposure which in said service & while in line of his duty and which disease continued until after his discharge from said service and his return to his home in Casey County Kentucky where he died about the 1st day of May 1865. & this affidavit has no interest in this claim whatever.

Affidavits Mary Ann Rigney, Nancy Ann Rigney & Betsy Ellis on state that they are citizens of Casey County Kentucky. That they were personally acquainted with George T. Rigney descd. & with his family & had been for many years. That they were well acquainted with his first wife Mahala. That they were present when she died. That she died in Casey County KY on the 25th February 1854. That the child Mahala Jane was born but a very short time before she died on the same day to wife on the 25 February 1854. That this record of the death of the mother & the birth of the daughter Mahala Jane is derived from personal knowledge having been present at the time in the capacity of midwives & assistant nurses & attendants at the home, to the mother & child, and that said Mahala Jane has continued to live since the death of father, with her step(?) mother, Jane Rigney, the widow & that the widow Jane Rigney has had the care and maintenance of said Mahala Jane from her fathers death until this time & now ___ . Said Mahala Jane still lives with her step mother & that we have no interest
whatsoever in this claim direct or indirect & that they aforesaid & near neighbors of the applicant Jane Rigney.

Affidavit, Hardin Newell, states that he is a citizen of Pulaski County, KY. That he is a practicing physician in said county of Pulaski, and has been for several years. That he was the family physician of George T. Rigney decd. late of Casey County & 2nd Lieut Co D 13th KY, Calv. Vol. That he was called to visit said Rigney after his discharge from military service at his home in Casey County KY. That he was suffering with the disease called a grief of the liver & various other parts of his body caused by the exposure and fatigue while in the US service. That he was called to treat him for said disease about the 1st day of April 1865 and continued to attend to him and administer medicines and give him medical treatment until his death which occurred about the 1st of May 1865. That said Rigney was an able bodied man & free from this particular disease which caused his death, at the time he entered the military service of the United States, and his death was caused by the disease aforesaid & that I have no interest what in so in this claim.

On this fourth day of August A. D. One thousand eight hundred and seventy three (1873) personally appeared before me Clerk of the County Court in and for the County and State aforesaid Jane Rigney a resident of Lincoln County in
the State of Kentucky aged 52 years who being first sworn according to law doth on her oath make the following declarations in order to obtain the benefits of the provisions errads(?) by the 2 section of the act of congress increasing the= pensions of widows and orphans approved July 25th 1866. And all subsequent acts and amendments of acts of congress making provisions for pensions for widows and orphans of soldiers of the war 1861-2 & C (?). That she is the widow of George T. Rigney who was a 2nd Luiet. in Company D. Commanded by Capt Thomas Watson in the 13th Regiment of Kentucky Cavalry Volunteers Commanded by Col. J. W. Weatherford in the war of 1861 and that by ________ of his death from disease contracted while in the service of aforesaid she has been granted a pension of fifteen dollars per month in accordance with a
certificate numbered 145.760 bearing date 7th day of Nov 1870.
She further swears that she has the following named children of her deceased husband and herself under sixteen years of age on 25th July 1866 who are now living. The dates of whose births wee as given below to me.
Sinthy Ann, born March 2, 1855
Robert M. born November 7 1860
George Marion, born March 5th 1863
She states that Sinthy since becoming 16 years of age married in September 1872.
She further declares that she has not remarried since the death of her said husband nor has she abandoned the support of any one of the children above named, nor permitted anyone of the same to be adopted by any other person as his hers or there child. Except Sinthy who has married.

McMullin residents of Lincoln County State of Kentucky persons whom I certify to be respectable and entitled to and it who bring by me duly sworn according to law say that they were present and saw Jane Rigney sign her name by making her mark to the foregoing declaration, and they further swear that they have every reason to believe from the appearance of the applicant and their acquaintance with her that she is the identical person she represents to be and that they have no interest in the prosecution of this claim.

Personally came Mary Ann E. Rigney and Nancy Ann Rigney who being duly sworn according to law, doth depose and say: They are both residents of the town of (blank) in the county of Casey and State of Kentucky. That their respective ages are 73 & 54 years that they were personally well acquainted with George T. Rigney in his lifetime and well
acquainted with his widow Jane Rigney and with the entire family including the children of said George T. & Jane Rigney. They state that the following are the names of their children.
Cynthia (Synthy) Ann Rigney, born March 2 1855
Robert M. Rigney born November 7 1860
George Marion Rigney born March 5 1863
Affidavit Mary Ann E Rigney states that she was present and in the room as midwife to the mother at the birth of each of the above named children & attended the mother in her accouchment (?) of the same & know that she is the mother & George Rigney the respective father & they born on the days above stated. Nancy Ann Rigney states that she was present in the room as nurse to the mother at the births of the children and knows that they were born on the days above stated. Affidavits both state that said children were born in Casey County Kentucky at times above stated. They further states they are not interested in the premises, nor are they concerned in the prosecution of the case in which this testimony is to be used.
