Know Ye, that George T. Rigney a Second Lieut.. of Captain Thomas Watson's Company, (D), 13th Regiment of Kentucky Cavalry VOLUNTEERS who was enrolled on the Twenty Eight day of October one thousand eight hundred and Sixty three to serve one year or during the war, is hereby DISCHARGED from the service of the United States this tenth day of January,
1865, at Camp Nelson Kentucky by reason of Expiration of terms of service (No rejection to his being re-enlisted is known to exist) Said George T. Rigney was born in (blank) in the State of (blank), is Forty one years of age, Six feet (blank) inches high, Fair complexion, Black eyes, Black hair, and by occupation, when enrolled, a Farmer Given at Camp Nelson this tenth day of January 1865.

WIDOW'S APPLICATION FOR ARMY PENSION
STATE OF Kentucky COUNTY OF Casey SS.
On this 28 day of April AD 1869, personally appeared before me (1) Judge of the (2) County Court, a Court of Record, within and for the County and State aforesaid, Mrs. Jane Rigney a resident of the (3) County of Casey in the State of Kentucky aged 48 years, who, being first duly sworn according to law, doth on her oath make the following declaration, in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the act of Congress, approved (4) July 14th, 1862 ______________ That she is the widow of George T. Rigney deceased, who was a 2nd Lieutenant in Company D. Commanded by Captain Thomas Watson
in the 13th Regiment of (5) Kentucky Cavalry Volunteers Commanded by Colonel James W. Weatherford in the war of 1861, and who died (6) at home since discharge from the service aforesaid, at Home in Casey County in the State of Kentucky, on or about the First day of May AD 1865, From (7) disease incurred in the service aforesaid and while in the line of his duty, (8)
She further declares that she was married to the said George T. Rigney in the(3) County of Casey in the State of Kentucky on the 16 day of May in the year 1854 and that her name before her said marriage was Jane Wall that her husband, theaforesaid George T. Rigney died on the day above mentioned, and that she has remained a widow ever since that period, as will more fully appear by reference to the proof herewith accompanying or to be hereafter filed. She also declares
that she has not, in any manner, been engaged in or aided or abetted, the rebellion in the United States. She irrevocably appoints Col. C. D. Pennebaker of Washington City DC her attorney, with full power of substitution and
revocation on his part in her said behalf, and authorizes him to receive the Pension Certificate when issued. Her Post Office is at Mintonville in the Count of Casey in the State of Kentucky. That her domicile or place of abode is (9)
about five miles from Mintonville, on the road leading from Liberty to Mintonville and in Casey County. That (10) That said soldier died leaving thefollowing children under sixteen years of age issue of applicant & the said George T. Rigney.

A.G.USA, reports that G.T. Rigney was mustered in Dec. 23 1863 as 2nd Lieut Co., D. 13th Kentucky, Cavalry. M.O. Roll of Company, dated Camp Nelson, Ky. reports him mustered out at that date 2nd Leut, "Discharge ______ date January 10, 1865. Dr. Hardin Newell, Pulaski, Ky, testifies that he was the families physician of George T. Rigney. That he was called to see him about April 1, 1865 after discharge, found him suffering with abscess of Liver and other disease, in which he treated him until he died from said disease May 1st, 1865. That he was sound and healthy when he went into the service and that his disease was the result of exposure in the service. This Captain testifies that he contracted disease from exposure in the line of duty and that the disease affected him while in the service and after his discharge.
