Proof of Aden J. Rigney's first marriage to Amanda Smith, his second marriage to Mary E. Stephenson, birth and death of his son Una, birth of his daughter Lillian. Proof also of Mary E. Stephenson Rigney's parents, their names, birth and death dates. Proof of where his marriages took place as well. Also proof of death.

Sir, Inregard to your request I will answer you to the best of my knowledge.
While in Camp Williams dec?. 1861 I taken a severe cold and it settled on my
lungs.We moved from there to Webbs crossroads, while there my cough got
so bad I spit blood and they sent me home on a furlough. I was doctered by
Dr. John A. Brady, surgeon of the regiment, at Nashville Tenn, in April 1862
I had the yellow Jaundice and it

Affected my head and general system. While at Murphesburough on or
about the third of May I was sent to the Hospital I was taken with a chill
and cramps and while there I had an abcess of the throat. In August 1864
in making my escape on the Stoveman Raid with Hiram Smith, I suffered
with my back and hips and I could not eat any thing on the account of my
stomache for weeks after I got back in our lines. I was a convalescent
through Aug and part of Sept. In regard to my occupation in the spring of
1866 I went to Champlain Co., Illinois. I was engaged in farming with Dave
B. Heed/Reed. I made my home at his fathers. I was troubled with my
kidneys, liver and constipation

While there I was doctored by Dr. Brown of Urbanna. In the latter part of
1866 and the early part of 67 I made my home with John A. Davis,
Champlain City Illinoise and my health got so bad the Dr. advised me to
go to KY. In the spring of 1867 I came back to KY I remained in Lincoln Co
untill the fall of 1869. I then went to Longton, Kansas and made my home
there till the spring of 1874. and while there I suffered with my head,
stomache and liver trouble and was doctored by Dr. Reed of Longton.
In the spring of 1874 I came back to Highland KY. In 1876 and 77 my Post
Office was Lancaster, Garrard Co. I suffered with stomache trouble and
Rhemmatism. I then moved to

Pulaski Co and remained till 1886. Dr. H?L Barber was my Dr. untill 1886.
He is dead now. I then moved to Casey Co., and was doctored by Dr. Hughs
Mintonville was the Post Office. In 1891 I then moved back to Lincoln Co, KY
on a farm I have been trying to farm when I am able to do anything.
Up to 1891 I followed running a saw mill. I have made a statement before
about My Dr's. They are all dead except Dr. Hughs. since my discharge
I have been deprived of certain kind of farm labor such as harvesting and
thinning corn. Some year I have been deprived of as much as six months
labor. It has been that way more or less ever year. I have had to use purgative
medicine all the time

so much so that my lower bowels have become weakened so as to cause piles.
I will give you some of the physicians names that have treated me in the las ten or
twelve years. Dr. George Garner, Humphrey KY(?), Dr. J.T. Morris, Sanfild, KY,
Dr. F. Peyton, Stanford, KY.

Declaration For Invalid Pension
State of Kentucky, County of Lincoln, SS:
On this 24th day of August, A.D. one thousand eight hundred and ninety
one, personally appeared before me, a George B. Coopen Clerk
County Court, within and for the County and State aforesaid
Aden C. alias Aden J. Rigney, aged 46 years, a resident of the vicinity
of Maywood, County of Lincoln, State of
Kentucky, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the
identical Aden C. alias Aden J. Rigney, who was enrolled on the 14th day of
November, 1861, in Liberty KY, as a Private in Co A 1st Regiment Kentucky
Cavalry Volunteers comanded by Col. Frank Walford in the service of the
United States, in the War of the Rebellion, and served at least ninety days,
and was honorably discharged at Camp Nelson, KY on the 31st day of
December, 1865 and that he has not been inployed on the military or navy
service of the United States since his discharge from the United States army on
said 31 Dec 1865 to the present date. That is partially unable to earn a support
by manual labor by reason of Catarrn, Rhumad tirm, partial deafness in both
ears, Indigestion, the loss of first joint of index finger of left hand, ? pharyngitis
& tonsilitis that said disabilities are not due to his vicious habits, and are
to the best of his knowledge and belief permanent. That he has here to for
applied for pension under application no. 822.601. that he is not a pensioner
under any law papers by the Congress of the United States of America.
That he makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension roll
of the United States, under the provisions of the Act of June 27, 1890.
He hereby appoints, with full power of substitution and revocation, George H
McKinney of Stanford of Lincoln County, Kentucky his true and lawful
attorney to prosecute his claim, the fee to be TEN DOLLARS, as prescribed by
law. That his post office address is Maywood, County of Lincoln, State of

In the matter of Aden J. Rigney late Prvt. Co A 1st Reg Ky Cav Vol.

On this 9th day of November, A.D. 1891, personally appeared before
me a notary public in and for the afore said County, duly authorized to administer
oaths Aden C. alias Aden J. Rigney aged 46 years, a resident of near Maywood,
in the County of Lincoln, and State of Kentucky who post office address is
Maywood, Lincoln County Kentucky well known to be reputable and entitled to
credit, and who, being duly sworn, declared in relation to aforesaid case, as
follows:
That his correct name is Aden J. Rigney and that he is the identical Aden
J. Rigney who was enlisted as a private in Co A 1st Regiment Kentucky Cavalry
Volunteers under the name of Aden C. Rigney - That by the carelessness or
over sight of his commanding officer his name was entered on the company rollas
as Aden C. Rigney when it should have been Aden J. Rigney. That in the spring
of the year 1866 claimant was near Urbana Champaign County & state of Illinois
engaged and employed by one ----- Littler to assist him in the management of
running a sawmill, and that whilst so engaged as said assistant a portion of the
machinery connected with said sawmill got out of order and with the assistance
of Isaac Patton the main boss of the said saw mill, they were trying to tighten up
the binder in the frame by forcing or driving it back into the montices? of said frame,
and claimant had his hand above his head trying to steady the frame, when the said
Isaac Patton struck behind himself with a mallet & not seeing or knwing the position
of claimants hand, he struck at said frame, and at the same time he struck claimants
index finger of the left hand & cut off the end down to the first joint thereof and that
it was immediately tereafter dressed by Dr. Brown & goodin of Urbana, state of Illinois.
The above statement is made in reply to questions? issued from the Bureau of
Pensions on Novemeber 4, 1891 and which is hereto answered and marked in Red Ink &
made permt. hereof. - all the above corrections & ? where done before exacuting this paper.
