This page contains the most big thing that has happened in my life so far...... When I caught meningitis.
I was really ill at school, with a severe headache and the light was hurting my eyes, so I got sent home where my Mum looked after me, because everyone thought I just wasnt feeling well. Overnight, I was sick about three times, but each throw-up lasted ages! In the morning, my Mum came in to see me. I had a rash all over my neck. My Mums a nurse. She ran downstairs to get a glass and put it against my neck. The rash didnt fade. I immedietly new what was wrong, I had meningitis. I couldnt understand, because a week earlier I had the jab for it.
I was rushed to the doctors, who confirmed it and told the hospital we were on our way so they would be prepared for me. I had an injection at the doctors, which I didnt actually know what it was for, but it sure did hurt!
When I got to the hospital (SouthMead Hospital) I went to the childrens department. They had to take all my details, weigh me, and then they sent me to a ward called "Otter Ward". I cant really remember much of what they did when I got into my own cubicle, but I think they gave me another injection which killed even more, then they put me on a drip. This took ages to do because they had to get some tests, and get the right nurses and doctors.
I kept being sick loads, and I felt horrible. My family had to take tablets just to see me so they wouldnt catch it off me. It turned out that although I'd had the jab, it was for meningitis B, and I had meningitis C!
I was in hospital for a week, each day I felt a bit better. I hated being stuck in hospital for loads of reasons, one of them was because the food was horrible (I refused to eat it and I got my Mum and Dad to bring food that I was allowed in for me!) and the other reason was because I never got to see any of my friends, or make contact! I began to forget what outside was like, and even forgot the taste of fresh air!
One of the days was terrible, I was just beggining to feel better when I caught a bug from the hospital!
I remember that I had to have a head scan for something which was really scary and I felt like being trapped in some sort of machine!!!
I cant remember anything else apart from as soon as I got out of hospital, I went straight for Burger King!!!!!!!!
