PUNK NEWS (64):

*THE ATARIS have signed with Columbia Records despite previously claiming that such a move would be hugely unlikely for them. The surprise decision was made by the quartet after their contract with Kung Fu Records finished.

*IGNITE are home for a few weeks, and are taking the opportunity to write some more material for the next Ignite album. They have about 8 songs in the works right now and plan on spending a lot of time in the rehearsal room this summer.

*R.E.M.'s "It's The End Of The World As We Know It" has been given a punk-rock makeover by veteran skacore outfit, the SUICIDE MACHINES. The version, described as a speed-rock torrent, is among the 14 tracks to appear on Steal This Record, due from the Detroit group on Hollywood Records September 25.

*The ANTI-HEROS broke up the night before the annual beer olympics in Atlanta. Supposedly there was an argument with Condemened 84 and Anti-Heros, so they called it quits.

*Burning Heart have recently signed DIVISION OF LAURA LEE. Currently, as this is being written, the band is doing the final mixing to their first EP on Burning Heart. Expect to see it released sometime around September the 20th, with a full length to come out early 2002.

*The JULIANA THEORY, have announced that they have signed to Epic/Sony Records. A statement from the band reads "It was a difficult decision, but after all the deliberating, we chose Epic Records and are very excited about our future with them....Everyone at the label seems to have a good grasp on our music and our vision as a band”.

*The BOUNCING SOULS have confirmed to take Flogging Molly (main support), One Man Army (second of four) and Madcap (opener) for their October/November run.

*BOY SETS FIRE will be re-issuing "After The Eulogy" on August 7th. The new version will contain an extra track entitled "Timothy"." The new version of "After The Eulogy" is being released by the bands' new label, Wind Up Records.

*After Max left BIGWIG, they have now finally found a new bass player named Tony. The new BigWig album will probably be released a little bit later because of some studio work.

*The official TRUSTKILL RECORDS website has been having some host problems as of late, but they are back in full on their very own server. Head over to http://www.trustkill.com to check out the details on upcoming releases and more.

*For those of you who have been supporters of THE PILFERS you know they were constantly on the road until recently when mystery surrounded the cancellation of the rest of their shows. *UNTIL THE END plan on entering Studio 13 in Florida to record their Eulogy Recordings debut full length entitled "Blood In The Ink." They will begin work in the first two weeks in August. The CD will be out sometime in September

*GIVE 'EM THE BOOT: "Vol. III" (HellCat Records) will be available 09/11 in the U.S. and 09/25 in Europe. There will supposedly be new and unreleased songs on the comp.

*Apparently GREEN DAY are getting ready to release their "Greatest Hits" record which will see record shelves near you on November 5th on Reprise Records. The record will feature all of the band's hits along with two brand new tracks.

*CHIXDIGGIT have been forced to cancel their upcoming West Coast tour. The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Department is trying to make them pay a $1000 per band member and $1500 per roadie to get in the US from Canada if you apply for work permits within 35 days of your trip.

*AGAINST ALL AUTHORITY are said to be writing new material for a possible release later this year. A tour is scheduled for August/September in support of the awesome "24 Hour Roadside Resistance", as well as the recently issued comp "Nothing New For Trash Like You"

*MIDTOWN not only recently signed onto MCA's roster but also redesigned their out of date website. You can check out the new design and their most recent tour dates here www.midtownrock.com

PUNK NEWS (63):

*GREEN DAY is currently throwing together a greatest-hits package for
release on Reprise Records this fall. The band is said to be readying a
few new tracks for inclusion on the as-yet-untitled album.

*According to John Feldman (Goldfinger) MOJO RECORDS is basically dead so
REEL BIG FISH FISH and GOLDFINGER are currently looking for a new label.
Goldfinger has twenty songs completed in preparation for their new album.
The release date has not been announced.

*Burning Heart`s “CHEAP SHOTS vol. 5” is almost finished and will be out
sometime in September. These bands will be on the compilation: Refused,
Bombshell Rocks, The (International) Noise Conspiracy, Nine, Millencolin,
Division Of Laura Lee, The Business, Randy, The Hives and many more.

*The upcoming GRADE album "Headfirst Straight to Hell" will not be carried
in the U.S. superstore chain BestBuy due to the provocative nature of the
cover artwork! The album will be out August 21st in the U.S. and on the
28th in Canada (punknews.org).

*The official ALKALINE TRIO website has gone under a major facelift and
has totally been revamped. Check it out at http://www.alkalinetrio.com for
more information on their recent lineup change, and tour dates on the
upcoming Plea For Peace Tour.

*The PILFERS, well known by their core group of supporters have broken up
due to artistic and personal differences. Their absence will be me missed
in the independent music world.

*Filming has begun on KUNG FU RECORDS second feature film entitled
"Selwyn's Nuts." It was written by and stars Warren Fitzgerald of the
Vandals and will be directed by the Kung Fu’s own Joe Escalante, for a
late 2001 release (punkmusic.com).

*According to the latest mailing from FAT WRECK CHORDS the whole camp is
as busy as a bum diving for a shattered roll of pennies. STRUNG OUT, TILT,
LAGWAGON & AVAIL are all in the process of writing new songs while many
more bands are either releasing new material, touring or doing both.

*The FACE TO FACE website (www.facetofacemusic.com) has just gotten it's
biggest update yet which includes a new interview, new pics, 40+ new fan
bios, audio clips to the albums and EPs and, most importantly, exclusive
downloads.

*ONE KING DOWN and ANOTHER VICTIM have decided to call it quits. Some of
the guys in Another Victim have started a new band called True Love and
they're working on a debut full length now. Possibly expect the album to
be released on Equal Vision Records (punknews.org).

*To celebrate the release of their new CD entitled "Symptoms of a Leveling
Spirit" GOOD RIDDANCE have created a new official website. Check it out at
www.good-riddance.com. They ill also have a split CD coming out November
20th with KILL YOUR IDOLS on Jade Tree Records.

*STRIFE are going into the studio starting July 15 to record a new album
that will come out before the end of 2001 on Victory Records.

*BELVEDERE are heading into the studio to record their upcoming third
full-length release tentatively titled, "We Don't Dance on Sundays." The
CD will be released on Jump Start Records in October.

*SAVES THE DAY`S Vagrant Records debut, "Stay What You Are," recently
debuted at #100 on the Billboard Top 200. The album sold 15,000 records in
the first week. The band is currently headlining the Vagrant America Tour
for the rest of the summer.

*Marco Pena is out of the THE ATARIS. The Warped Tour Show in LA was his
last one and John the guitar tech (Ex-Beefcake) will take his place. Kris
Roe posted on The*Ataris message board that Pena has left The*Ataris on
good terms.

*BANE`S highly anticipated follow up album to "It All Comes Down To This"
is scheduled for an October 30th release. It will be titled "Give Blood"
and released on Equal Vision Records.

*THE (INTERNATIONAL) NOISE CONSPIRACY are currently in the studio mixing
the new album. The Conspiracy dances to a slightly different beat this
time around. The production is larger. The intensity is intact. Most
notably, the songwriting has improved.

*INITIAL RECORDS have plans to release a couple records in the near
future. A brand new Juliana Theory EP is in the works, and new compilation
feature bands like Converge, American Nightmare, Burnt By The Sun and

*The VICTORY Video Collection is now available, containing 35 videos (and
extras like live footage) of bands including Snapcase, Warzone, and Strife
et al.

*JIMMY EAT WORLD have made their new album "Bleed American" available

*The new PULLEY album is out in early October and is titled "Together
Again For The First Time". I`ve heard 2 songs off the album...not
including "runaway" from POR 6, and if you like the s/t album you will
like this 100 times more.

*This fall HOME GROWN will head into the studio to lay down tracks for
their Drive-Thru Records debut, tentatively set for release in early April

*CONVERGE are gearing up for their highly anticipated new record which
will be the first new release in three years by the band. The new album,
entitled "Jane Doe" will hit the shelves on September 4th on Equal Vision

there are two full-length mp3s for these guys here

*The latest from Arizona'a JIMMY EAT WORLD will be out July 24 on
Dreamworks. Their new album has led to a redesigning of their website,

*USELESS ID got a new record out now, called "Bad Story Happy Ending"
(kung fu records) and they also made a video for the song "No Time For Me
To Be A Teenager" with Joe from the Vandals directing and filming. You can

*Go to www.vagrant.com to watch the new ALKALINE TRIO video. It was
finally posted and a lot of people keep asking about it on message boards.
Apparently Mike Felumlee, drummer of the Alkaline Trio has officially left
the band.

*The new album from GRADE, rather romantically titled Headfirst, Straight
To Hell, will be available in record stores on August 28. Headfirst,
Straight To Hell is scheduled to be released on vinyl and CD with cover
art by acclaimed fantasy illustrator Kevin Lewelyn.

*UNWRITTEN LAW has nixed all the break up rumors and is due out with their
new album in September. The disc is titled Elva.

*AVAIL are pretty much through with touring on the album One Wrench except
for their show on the 27th of July @ Krazyfest in Louisville, KY. They
have a back log of unfinished songs and they are going to get back into
writing mode. Expect a new album from them sometime next year

*The LAWRENCE ARMS cancelled their European tour scheduled for August/
September. There is no official statement up to now, but rumors that they
got a new record label and so cancelled the tour.

*Revelation Records has gone out and recently signed the band, A18. They
are comprised of ex-members of Insted, Chorus and Outspoken. The band
plans to hit the studio this fall to record their Revelation debut full
length record with Paul Minor of Death By Stereo fame.

*BANE are scheduled to record their long awaited follow up to "It All
Comes Down To This" sometime later this summer with Brian McTernan at
Salad Days Studios. The new record is titled "Give Blood" and will be
released in the fall with a full U.S. tour following.

*Announced on their official site, the new AGNOSTIC FRONT record will be
called "Dead Yuppies" and is due out in late September.

*The official THURSDAY website is now finally up and running at
www.fullcollapse.com ! It looks fantastic and was definitely well worth
the wait. The band is currently gearing up for a tour with Boy Sets Fire,
The Movielife and Rise Against for a couple of weeks this month

*KILL YOUR IDOLS have recently redesigned their website, which you can.
Check it out at: www.killyouridols.net. Kill Your Idols will be on the
road for the rest of the summer. Their new CD, 'Funeral For a Feeling'
hits stores on July 17.

*RIVER CITY HIGH have posted on their website (www.rivercityhigh.com) some
details about their upcoming debut album: "The new record is called "River
City High Won't Turn Down" and the official release date is September 18.

*BAD RELIGION are set to begin recording their 12th studio album, "The
Process of Belief" in early July. The follow-up to last year's The New

*RISE AGAINST will be busy little bees this summer. They will embark on an

*MILLENCOLIN is rehearsing for their new album to be released in March
2002. A rumour says that they were in Fagersta this weekend taking golf
lessons! A couple of months ago they played a golf tournament set up by
Vans, and they got beaten by other punkrockers including Fat Mike and
others

*VICTORY are preparing for a bunch of brand new, huge titles to be hitting
