| Carr for what? by Nathanchamp 9/9/01 David Carr for Heisman? Are you serious? That's right, all of a sudden this kid from Fresno State has become not only a contender, but maybe the leader (right now) for the Heisman Trophy. College football's most traditional accolade could be awared to a kid from Bakersfield, California? That's right! He has certainly earned it. What a way to thrust your name in such high places. Not only has Carr lifted the Bulldogs into the limelight, in the process he has made a name for himself. David Carr has emerged on the scene from Stockdale High and has turned himself into the nation's best QB. You heard me. I said best. No offense to Ken Dorsey of Miami, but it's not even close. Not only is Carr a great leader on the field, he is also a wonderful person. A family man, strong in his values and beliefs. A great example for any who watch the game, or any game for that matter. A great American hero I guess you could say. An All-American hero, maybe. A Heisman hero? A possibility. What great awards, but is that what David Carr is for? I don't believe so and neither does anybody who has ever heard him speak or watched him play in that red Bulldog uniform. No matter what accolades may be bestowed upon our great leader there is one thing he has been for from the very beginning. Ever since he and his father would sneak over the gate to throw some footballs near Bulldog Stadium. David Carr for...Fresno State! Bulldog believers by Nathanchamp 9/9/01 Can you believe it? Do I believe it? The Colorado Buffaloes, Oregon State Beavers, and Wisconsin Badgers do. The Fresno State Bulldogs, your Fresno State Bulldogs, have done the impossible. Hold on! Was it really that impossible or has that just been grinded into our minds be the nay-sayers and big boys? Our boys didn't think it to be impossible and they are proving that there is room Fresno State at the top of the mountain, or should I say Hill. In the process of proving something they already knew to be possible they have made believers of an entire city, sport, nation! I am a frequent visitor of many forums and have been overcomed by the amount of support from other fans across the country. I did not think that such heart could be streched to fit a nation, but I was wrong and so was everybody else. ESPN, ABC, Sports Illustrated, Fox Sports, etc., etc. the list continues to grow like Bulldog pride and confidence. I am afraid to move, because if I do, I might wake up. What a feeling, what a dream! I sure hope everybody in this valley has turmed their alarms off too because this dream is for them. If I do wake up sometime in the next couple of weeks I would like to say thank you to a nation of college football fans and to my Bulldogs for making believers out of all of us. |
