THE RIVER
Today as I was walking by the river, it was amazing what the waters revealed to me. A river is much like life. When you stand in one place things pass in and out of your view in a short period of time. If what is floating by is something we want, we must be fast to grasp it before it passes. If we miss it we expect the tides of life to bring it back our way again. Perhaps the next time it passes it may be just out of our reach.
As in Life there are times when the water is choppy and rough and is hard to navigate and causes disorientation and confusion, tossing us up and down, to and fro without direction. Although it not as often there are times when it is smooth and comforting, not a ripple to be found. We tend to have a clear view of our directions and problems and all seems to be going well until the tide changes or the wind picks up and the water becomes turbulent, once more. Some of us have learned to how to navigate the rough times and endure until the calm returns. Others become victims, and are swallowed up by confusion because they lack the determination to survive. Sometimes the tides of life are too high and cause us great discomfort or they can be low and not meet our needs.
Much like life, the period of ebb tide is very short and the tide changes from day to day, hour to hour, minute to minute and even second to second. Nothing is ever stable and it is continually changing. We become flustered and confused because we have no control over the waters. Perhaps the tides have washed parts of our lives or memories away. Knowing that we can never get them back we become frustrated.
If we want to take control of our lives and preserve what memories we have, we must enter the waters of life and learn to go with the flow. We can never change the tides but we can regulate how fast the water pass us by. The Lord has put all these things in our lives so that we may learn from them. The walk of life is a very complicated one but if we learn as we go it make life easier.
Maybe this is the reason our bodies are made of 98% water.
