| The Power Within During the early years of our life we are influenced by the people that are closest to us . In most cases it is a pleasurable experience that we share with our own children in our later years. In some cases it becomes a nightmare that haunts us our entire life, causing us much confusion and termoil. Sometime parents can be over baring, expecting more than we can physically or mentally give.. This often makes us feel inadequate and out of place, causing us to withdraw within ourselves. They tend to ask us to do more that we possible can handle. Is it because they want the best for us or perhaps they feel guilty, because they themselves fell short of their own parent expectations. Too often it may be the latter of the two, but to get them to admit it is another story. There comes a time when we must ask ourselves "did we do our best, or try our hardest"? If we can truthfully say to ourselves that we did without a doubt, then instead of feeling inferior we should be proud of ourselves no matter what the end result were. We are not all geniouses, or scholars or experts in the fields our parents chose for us, but we are fragile human beings that make mistakes and can be hurt by others expectations . This attitude causes us to draw within ourselves to avoid dealing with the people around us, causing us to lose our identity and forget who we are. We must always remember, there is only one person on this earth that weshould be responsible to, and that is ourselves. If we do not love the person we are, we cannot share love with others.This by no means insinuates that we should be self centered or just care about ourselves. True love comes from within and is personified outwardly toward others. Outwardly affection is not meant to be a substitute which will allow us an easy way out but should instead be sincere andfrom the heart . Facing the truth about ourselves is a difficult task but can be made easier by focusing our attention towards heaven. If we take the time to ask the Lord for help, He will not only show us the way but will give guidance and direction.
