Matthew Langford Perry (or Matty P. to all you Friends geeks) was a Canadian Tennis player living in Ottawa long before he was on Friends. When he was young he thought his heart was set on playing tennis, (Which wasnt a really bad idea since he was a top-ranked junior tennis champion in Canada) but at age 15 when he moved to L.A., he started to have other plans for his future. His father, John Bennett Perry (HAHA Bennett is my last name. Anyway...), was an actor.
Matthew continued to play tennis as well as act. He was on top of BOTH of his hobbies. He starred in all the school plays and was ranked 3rd nationally in the doubles category and 17th in the singles. Matthew went down the acting route when he was cast as the lead role in a TV series called "Second Chance". That was back in 87.
From 87 to 94 he appeared in a bunch of TV series and made for TV movies such as Call Me Anna, Deadly Resolutions, and Parallel Lives. Then one happy day in 1994 he was cast as Chandler Bing on a new sit-com about 6 "twenty something" FRIENDS. (An interesting fact: Matthew wrote an outline for a sit-com extremely similar to the plot line of Friends, but when he got cast for Friends he just decided to forget his idea.)
Now, not only a successful TV star, Matthew has established himself as a well-known movie actor. Most of his films have been successes. Three to Tango, The Whole Nine Yards, and Almost Heroes are just a few of his comedic hits (All of them...hilarious!). For the 8th season of Friends, Matthew was finally recognized for his performace on Friends. Though he did not win, he still recieved his first ever nomination. Friends is coming to an end, who knows where Matthew will be in 10 years. But he will always be loved by his many fans.
" Yeah, okay, they said I was gay on page 5 and I was married to whoever,Cameron Diaz, on page 6, and none of that's true, but look how lucky I am. I'm getting paid all this money to do something I like. It's when people who don't have blessed lives get written about that I get pissed. At first I'd sue everybody, but it just makes a bigger story." Matthew Perry Quote(doesn't he seem sweet).
