YEAH I STOLE ANOTHER STORY. THIS IS TOLD BY A GIRL WHO I DO NOT KNOW.
My grandmother is a very spiritual person she has told me several stories but
this one in particular always sticks in my mind. She comes from a fairly large
family i believe 6 siblings all together. She was about 15 so it had to be
sometime in the nineteen thirties. Her younger brother who was about 5 years
old was diagnosed with a fatal illness, I believe it was Polio. His name was
John. He had been sick for several weeks by now. One morning John had woken
up earlier than usual and had woke the family telling them how much better he
had felt, the family was amazed.
Being a very religious Catholic family they had thought it was a miracle,
before this day John had not been out of bed for weeks, he could not even walk.
So they had a wonderful day, everyone was extremly happy. That evening they
sat down for dinner as usual and everything was still going exceptionaly well.
After dinner a member of the family had found John in a corner praying to a
picture of the Blessed Mother. He was thanking her for giving him such a
wonderful "last" day and saying how he was ready to go and live with her and
Jesus. He had just kept repeating that he was ready for his trip. The family
was alarmed by all of this but really didnt give it much thought because they
had were under the impression a miracle had occured that day. The younger
children were now sleeping when there was a knock on the front door of the
house, when my grandmother had answered it there was no one there. Then they
heard a knock on the back door and went to answer and once again there was no
one at the door. Several minutes later they had discovered that John had
passed away, she now refers to the knocks on the door as the "knock of death".
As odd and freaky as this may all sound this is really a true story, sometimes
makes me afraid to answer my door!
