Hey yall! I updated this site friday May 6. First thing's first. Scott Savol was (finally!) voted off American Idol Wednesday Night. I just got so sick of seeing him up there singing! He was (in english accent) Horrible, in the words of SImon Cowell! Also, i thought Vonzel was in the bottom two that night when she was told by Ryan to stay standing. I was like omygod! Then, Bo was put there and so was Carrie so then i said, OK nice!! Well, I think Anthony Federov is gonna be voted off next week and then Bo, so it will be Carrie and Vonzel to have a face off at the finale, which is this month! But many people dissagree with me. Like Mena and Hannah, which, I am sorry to say girls but he's taken by some other chick. Next in news? For all you Apprentice Fans, its finally gonna be a girl winning this year! Yep, if you misse4d the show, Craig was voted off while Tana and Kendra are the final two. They'll face it off on Thursday, May 19th, to get a spot as Donald Trump's new Apprentice. Another thing that's on some people's minds is the Dance next friday! No one can wait for the last dance of the year, which is sometimes the crappiest dance of the year as you have your last slow dance with one of the eighth graders who wont be here next year (sigh) but knowing that, this is the last chance everyone has to let it out to the open about their feelings. Yeah, don't look at me like that... I GOT A PLAN, OK?! Anyway, hopefully this time we will have a somewhat good dj and we are planning on seeing Daybreak for one of their final performances. I also have heard that there will be a battle of the bands that night with some new bands going in the footsteps of Ian, Ansel, Max, and Hoffman. One band has even called my brother to be a drummer, but that is a totally different story. What is important is that there may be a new band next year, as long as they don't suck. If they suck... well... we'll get you off somehow. Remember, the dance is next friday. I can't wait! I already have an outfit planned! HAHAHA, Mena, don't say anything! Our little secret. OK, well thats all the crap that has happened this week. NO more!

Well, Spring Break is over, and everyone knows what that means. Lacross and... ugg... school. one things for sure... the quarter ends this week! Friday! AHH! I need to raise my science grade just a bit. Shoot. I'm in like so much trouble. I need a peer mentor. Wait, aren't I a peer mentor? I can mentor myself. Anyway... also, there is the junior honors society assembly coming up and if i want to get it, i need to raise my grade. And, i gotta concentrate more. Oh god, i got a ton of junk to do.

April First... normally, kids all over the United States can't wait for this day to prank friends, teachers, and parents. But, this year at Swain, has the spirit disappeared? Recently, I talked to several people on their ideas, comments, and concerns about April Fool's Day. When I told Denzel, 7th grade, that April First has become lamer and lamer every year, he had no other option than to agree with me, where as Jenny, 7th grade, also said that the seventh grade boys are acting just like it was any other ordinary school day. What every happened to the stupid, funny, and kodak moment jokes kids have pulled on teachers at our boring school? Have teachers sucked all the fun out of our great holiday, April First? Do they want to torture us to the point where OUR holidays are being taken away. Lately, many teachers and faculty have been, let's just say, not on their "cheerful" moods and suddenly turned "crabby". Is it some sick joke to get rid of the one day kids have fun? "Sometimes, teachers are the cause of a bad April Fool's Day," states Yianni, 6th grade. And many agree with him. Teachers have suddenly turned into our worst enemies, when they think they are still our best friends. But, because teachers are the reason our April Fool's Day's haven't been the best lately, is it their fault for every bad day kids have at school? Kids lately complain because of how teachers act. Are teachers acting like this for a reason? Are kids the reason? Lately, I have seen more and more kids at Swain crying or complaining about how crappy one teacher is or how one can't teach for their life. I also talked to others about how teachers are acting at our school and if Swain is the right choice for schools... Hannah Nallo, 6th grade, commented to me about the teachers at Swain. "We have been having soo much homework lately and sports that it is just pilling up." Not to say that anyone disagrees. Many students particitipate in lacross lately and teachers do know that practice is 2 hours long every day. Don't you think teachers should cut down the reading from 20 pages to 10? And don't you think teachers should cut the problems from 30 to 15? Just because we attend Swain doesn't mean our school has to be at the top. And, because our school is a private school, we do not have to attend the 180 days of school. Dr. Sylsbee, our principal, just likes that we come 180 days. Is this a sign that teachers are wanting to torture kids? Teachers don't want to come to school every day, like us, so why are they? Why are these people teaching? Some say that they want to see the smiles on children's faces when they learn something new. But, lately, at Swain, there haven't been that many smiles. Teachers should be more lenient about homework and possibly shorten the year's length. This doesn't mean that we should not appreciate the education that we are recieving. Our parents are paying to send us to a school like Swain. Our parents are not at fault in this situation. They have never attended and seen how teachers react to when someone doesn't have their homework. Another issue that kids at Swain do not understand is Homework Club. Many students every day attend Homework Club, thinking, why am I here? Because i forgot to do my homework? Is that such a crime? And is it? Is this such a crime? Just because you forget to do your homework doesn't mean that they have to go to homework club. Because one student, who has never been to homework club, has forgotten to finish the work, they are immidiately sent to homework club. Also, this says that you are not allowed to attend sports. Also, it gives you a reputation because you forgot that ONE TIME. Do you think teachers who are monitering homework club want to be there too? Of course not! But, they tell you they want you to learn from your mistakes. When you forget to make your bed one day, are you sent to boot camp to learn from your mistake? See, there is absolutely no point in homework club.
