Hi, Welcome to about us. I started with birds as a hobby and as anyone with a male and a female bird knows, it grows beyond that. My birds are well cared for, seed and pellet diet with fresh fruits and vegetables daily. The ones that like it get rice , crackers spread with peanut butter and other varieties of treats. All my birds are either in a large homemade flight pen or are free to come out of their cage when they want. My new goal is to construct an outside flight aviary connected to the house so they can go or come as they please weather permitting. All my babies are pulled from the nest at around 2-3 weeks of age and hand fed from there til weaning. Exceptions being the finches and parakeets or if I see the parent birds not feeding as they should. The other hobby is fish keeping, grows even quicker than birds! I have gotten disgusted with purchasing fish from a retail store and paying top dollar for them only to end up losing half or better because of poor quality stock. I figure that if I was getting disgusted, there has to be more out there like me. One problem with purchasing retail is that most are on a central filtration system so, if one fish has a disease....they all have a good probability of it.
