This page brings you to our newest adventure in the dog world, with Chinese Cresteds, which have become an important part of our focus and they sure have captured our hearts and attention! Ed's sister is again responsible for our involvement with this breed; I wanted one to play around with in the show ring and could not make up my mind between two littermate sisters and so brought them both home with me for a couple of weeks until Barbara was back for shows on the coast. This of course was with the intention either Willow or Lucy would go back home with her....well to make a long story short, Ed liked Willow and I liked Lucy the best and so they are both still living with us!! However, I have since had Lucy spayed as she proved to not be what I call an "easy keeper", she developed a loose patella as she approached a year of age and we chose not to perpetuate this problem by having a litter from her, which can be a hereditary defect. She is still a difficult dog to keep in good weight, but with the patella problem it is just as well she prefers to be a lightweight in stature.
Since then I had the pleasure of attending the Kentuckiana Dog Show Cluster in Louisville, KY, in 1999 and ran into friends, Ron and Barbara Scott who were exhibiting a young powderpuff male, who I promptly fell head over heels in love with and brought him home with me. He finished quickly in both the US and Canada and is known today as American and Canadian Champion Stratford's Tails and Tux. To see his Pedigree go to our Crested Boys Pedigree Page, and since I have two Crested males called "Tux" this boy is identified as "Tux #1, Tux #1 finished his Canadian Championship with a Group 2. Tux, #1, has a new litter here at Firacres, 3 Hairless, 1 M, 2 F, and 4 Powderpuffs, 3 M and 1 F, who were born on July 2, 2001,their dam is our Champion Star, a daughter of Ch. Woodlyn Moptop Country Music. These puppies show me a lot of promise as they are progressing into their individual personalities and we look forward to watching them grow up. Pictures soon, will be in an album on our pages to chronicle their progress at different ages.
