The English Consul Volunteer Fire Department is always seeking motivated individuals to join our team of dedicated professionals.

ABSOLUTELY NO PREVIOUS TRAINING IS REQUIRED!!

Our department operates in conjunction with the Baltimore County Fire Department career side. We offer both training at our own station as well as county level training taught by certified instructors through the Baltimore County Fire Rescue Academy and the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute. The following is just a brief list of the training you can receive through membership with us!

1. *Hazardous Materials Operations
2. *Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
3. *Bloodborne Pathogens
4. Firefighter I
5. EMT-B
6. Paramedic

This list is not all inclusive, there are many more courses you can take. Most courses are state and nationally certified courses. You will gain classroom knowledge as well as hands-on techniques to adequately prepare you to face the many challenges and obstacles that are associated with firefighting and emergency medical services.

You may be asking yourself, do I have to be a firefighter? The answer is NO! There are many applicants who choose not to take firefighting training. Instead they take the option of learning EMS skills and becoming Maryland Emergency Medical Technicians. If you wish to train for both disciplines, you are more than welcome.

We offer, as part of membership with our department the following:

1. Free training
2. Turnout gear and protective clothing**
3. Length of service award program, after 20 years of service you can receive monetary compensation
for your service as a volunteer***
4. Practical experience in teamwork and leadership under pressure that no other line of work can offer.
5. Comraderie and friendship gained from working as a team
6. The opportunity to save lives and make a difference in the community.
7. The opportunity to work with some of the best firefighters and EMS providers in the county...the
