So, What is This Site?

Hey! I'm "Fiction Master." This is an all fun website about books, some good and some not so good. I'm not a computer genius, I'm just pretty good, so don't expect a perfect, no glitch site. My family and I really read a lot, so I'm creating a place where everybody can read about books my family and friends do and don't recommend. Well, that's all I can say here, so enjoy the site!

Bendigo Shafter

I just started reading "Bendigo Shafter" by Louis L'Amour last night at 11:30 so I only got ten pages in. This is a western story about a group of people - seven men, thirteen women, and two children. They are in Wyoming - late 1860s, settling down for the winter. They build cabins, stock up on food, and bundle up for the cold Wyoming snow season. Come spring, some intend to stay, and some want to head farther west into California. They battle indians and other settlers, find children in 3 feet of snow and face temperatures like -50* F.

Memory Boy

Memory Boy, by Will Weaver is a book about a family in 2008. Two years after Mount Ranier exploded, ash is still falling from the sky, even in Minneapolis. Miles Newell and his family escape from their home and flee to the countryside where they have a summer cabin. The family cabin has been invaded by squatters and the Newells are forced to leave. They face all sorts of challenges in this thriller. My judgement: a good book for anytime

Most Recent Read

RASCAL
I'm just in sixth grade. My reading teacher, Mrs. Scott, had my literature group read "Rascal" by Sterling North. It's not a great book, but it is fascinating. It's set in July 1918, at the middle of WWI. The boy (Sterling) rescues a young raccoon kit and raises it. They go through the next couple months of their lives together, going through everything from angry class bullies to a mischevious crow. My judgement: an okay book, a quick read for a rainy day. HOLES

This is one of my all-time favorite books. Holes, by Louis Sachar (my all-time favorite author), is a book about a boy, Stanley Yelnats. He is wrongly accused of a crime, and is sent to a juvenile correction camp, Camp Green Lake. (There is no lake there, just a bunch of weird juvenile delinquents.) This book skips back and forth from present day Texas to the 1800s. Stanley uncovers the secret of why the counselers make them dig deep holes all day . he also lifts the curse set on his family hundreds of years ago. Comments? Email them to me. The hyperlink to it is on two of the other articles.
