A/N: I would like to thank Solo for saying that someone should write a
songfic to this. If you hadn't have suggested that, pal, well, I
probably wouldn't have written this. ::clears throat:: Warning: Complete sap
ahead! I was also high on coffee when I wrote this, so there’s gonna be
some weird moments in here. One more thing. I’ve always gotten the
impression that Andi was younger than Matrix, so she’s twenty in this and
Gun-boy is twenty-two. Words in italics are either song lyrics or
thoughts. I’m assuming that you’ll be able to figure out which is which.

Every Other Time
By: Dragonmaster

I said let’s talk about it
As she walked out on me and slammed the door.
But I just laugh about it
‘Cause she’s always playin’ those games. (c’mon)

Enzo Matrix sighed as he lay awake in bed. He and AndrAIa had had
another fight. Not that it wasn’t normal; they always fought, then got back
together. He just missed her like crazy when she was gone. He didn’t
even remember what they fought about half the time. They always got back
together as if nothing had happened though.

Deep down I know she loves me
But she’s got a funny way of showin’ me how she cares (she cares)
Last night she did a donut on my lawn
Then drove off with one finger in the air. (oh yeah)

Sometimes it’s black, sometimes it’s white
Sometimes she’s wrong, sometimes I’m right
Sometimes we talk about it, or we figure it out
But then she just changed her mind
Sometimes she’s hot, sometimes I’m cold
Sometimes my head wants to explode
But when I think about it, I’m so in love with her
Every other time.

Yeah, every other time

Across the city, in the 8-Ball Arms, AndrAIa switched off the TV and
sat back on the couch. She looked out the window toward the apartment
where she knew Matrix would be. Shaking her head, she mentally smacked
herself.
Quit thinking about him. She thought. Resisting the urge to look back
at the window, she got up and grabbed a soda out of the refrigerator.
Walking back to the couch, she put the radio on and tuned it to her
favorite station. A song played that she had never heard before, but the
lyrics sounded familiar somehow.

"Sometimes we sit around
Just the two of us on a park bench
Sometimes we swim around
Like two dolphins in the ocean of our hearts.

"But then I think about the time when we broke up before the prom
And you told everyone that I was gay,
Okay."

AndrAIa laughed. It sounded like the two of them so much. She yawned
and stretched, only now realizing how late it was. Finally, she closed
her eyes and fell asleep.
Shutting the door quietly behind him, Matrix walked toward the front
desk of the apartment building. He knew AndrAIa was staying in Bob’s
apartment while he was with Dot on a well-deserved vacation, but he didn’t
remember what number it was. The receptionist told him, but not without
giving him a strange look first.
Matrix stopped before the door and took a deep breath. Then he sighed
and pounded on the door, "AndrAIa, it’s me. Can I come in?"

Sometimes I walk around the town for hours just to settle down
But I’d take you back and you’d kick me down.
Cause that’s the way uh-huh uh-huh I like it.

Sometimes it’s black, sometimes it’s white
Sometimes she’s wrong, sometimes I’m right
Sometimes we talk about it, or we figure it out
But then she just changed her mind
Sometimes she’s hot, sometimes I’m cold
Sometimes my head wants to explode
But when I think about it, I’m so in love with her
Every other time.

Yeah, every other time

"What do you want?" The game sprite’s voice came through the door,
after a nano.
"I need to talk to you."
There was silence, then the door opened slightly. "Fine."
Matrix walked into the apartment and sat down in a chair across from
AndrAIa. "So, uh, what’s up?" he asked awkwardly.
She sipped her soda and shrugged her shoulders. "Other than you waking
me up? Nothing."
"Oh, sorry."
"Forget it. I wasn’t very tired anyway." AndrAIa returned irritably.
"You want a drink or something?"
He looked at his watch. "Sure. Coffee, what ever kind you have."
Nodding, AndrAIa got up and poured him a mug, then handed it to him and
sat back down. Matrix took a long drink from it before looking up
again.
"So why are you really here?" AndrAIa asked him.
Matrix looked down at his coffee and sighed. Glancing back up at the
younger sprite he said, "three guesses and the first two don’t count."

Keep it up home girl, dontcha quit
You know the way you scream is the ultimate
And when I walk away, just watch the clock
I bet I don’t even get around the block.

Andi chuckled softly to herself. "I should’ve known." She muttered.
"I just thought that I’d, ya know-"
"Apologize?"
"Something like that, yeah," he replied, giving her a lopsided grin.
AndrAIa stared at him for a moment then, smiling, she walked over and
hugged him. "You know, if you hadn’t have come here tonight, I would’ve
been at your door first thing in the morning."
"Glad to hear it," he said softly, taking her into his arms. "Hey
Andi?"
"Hm?"
"How much sugar did you put in this coffee?"
"Not much, why?"
"I’m shaking."

I said let’s talk about it
As she walked out on me and slammed the door.
Someday we’ll laugh about it,
‘Cause we’re always playin’ those themes.

Sometimes it’s black, sometimes it’s white
Sometimes she’s wrong, sometimes I’m right
Sometimes we talk about it, or we figure it out
But then she just changed her mind
Sometimes she’s hot, sometimes I’m cold
Sometimes my head wants to explode
But when I think about it, I’m so in love with her
Every other time.

Yeah, every other time

DM: Okay, I seriously think I’ve lost my mind for writing something
this corny. Somebody smack me. Oh well, sap sells, right Spookygirl? Okay,
shutting up now.
