-Gold Chocobo-
The goal of breeding championship chocobos is to end up with a gold chocobo. First thing's first, you need money to breed chocobos. The easiest way to raise the needed funds is to sell of a fully-mastered All materia. You'll get 1.2 million gil for it, which will make money no object for the remainder of the game. The majority of the information here can be found by talking to the chocobo sage.
Rent out all six chocobo stalls from Chocobo Bill. Total cost: 60,000 gil
Buy 70 Sylkis Greens from the Chocobo Sage. Total cost: 350,000 gil
Capture your first two chocobos. You'll need a "great" running female and a "good" walking male. You'll find the walking male south of the Golden Saucer desert. You'll find the running female west of Mideel. Make sure that you get the male rated "good" and the female rated "great" by Choco-Billy.
Save Game.
Feed each of the two chocobos 10 sylkis greens.
Race them at the Golden Saucer up to A-class.
Mate these 2 using a Carob Nut (steal from a creature called "Vlakorados" found south of the Bone Village).
They should produce a Green or Blue chocobo. Feed this little one 10 Sylkis greens and race up to A-class.
Save Game.
Mate the two yellow chocobos again with another Carob nut. You want to get a chocobo of the other color (green/blue) and opposite gender. If you don't get it on this try, reset the game by pressing L1, L2, R1, R2, select, and start at the same time, reload and retry the mating until it works.
Once you have the other chocobo, feed it 10 Sylkis greens and race it up to A-class.
Mate the Green and Blue chocobos with another Carob nut to get the Black chocobo.
Feed the Black one 10 Sylkis greens and race it up to A-class.
You need to find a "wonderful" dashing chocobo of the opposite gender. You can find them in the snow-covered north.
Feed the "wonderful" dashing chocobo 10 Sylkis greens and race it up to A-class.
Mate the Black and "wonderful" chocobo with a Zeio Nut (Find Zeio Nuts in a small forest on a small island located to the northeast of the chocobo farm. Battle Goblins to get one.).
Enjoy your new Gold Chocobo! Feed it 10 Sylkis Greens and watch it zoom all the way to S-class and all the hidden materias of the game!
