The Ultimate Final Fantasy Three Walkthrough

NEW! Poetry and Doll Maker with Galleries!     [Learn About Our Ecommerce]
Graphics Gallery!

For the ultimate game of Final Fantasy 3 follow these instructions specifically. There are a few walkthrough hints that I have added to make this walkthrough complete, that I DO NOT recommend for the ultimate game. I have placed NR, and the reason why at the end of these hints. One constant remains throughout the game; SAVE CONSTANTLY. If you pass away you loose the chance to have a special ending. Do not die during the entire game and you can get the ultimate ending with the ultimate game! If you save you can reset if you die.

I use default names, so you’d either better use the originals or remember them all. This is easier done if you have played through the game once or twice to get the feel of things.
ENJOY, AND MAY THE FORCE BE WITH- wait…wrong story…

-Put all the characters in the back row.
-Walk to the right at the first opening inside the city to have a battle with a Lobo. NR: Waste of time, and there is only extra exp. to gain.
-Walk one block to the right from the intersection of vents, at the center of the city, to avoid a fight with 2 Lobo’s and then a battle with 2 Guards.
-Use the Bio Blaster in ?????’s (Terra’s) Magitek skills on everything but Were-rats and Whelk.
-Use Tek-Missile against Whelk from ?????’s (Terra’s) skills. Each fighter can only fit one attack in while Whelk is vulnerable.
-There is an Elixir in Arvis’ clock. Be sure to get it before you leave for the mines.
-At the first save point, if you save your game and then play through until the Lete River, you can use the repeating fight trick to gain to level 99. After gaining to level 99 die and you will return to the first save point at level 99. Every character afterwards will also be at level 99. NR: It takes a lot of fun out of the game, and it keeps you from building skills with Espers.
-Do not take the treasures in the mine because in the World of Ruin they turn from a Phoenix Down & a Tent, to a Pod Braclet & an Elixir.
-In the battle with the moogles, there are a few things you can do. The groups are named as this: Locke leads group A, Mog leads group B, and Kushu leads group C. Move group A down so B can get through. Put Mog, Kuku, and Kupan in the back row. Use them to battle until they are dying, or you have killed the monsters. Don’t use the Dusk Requim, Mog is a better fighter. If that party cannot finish the job, move group C in to fight the rest. Move Kamog, in group C, to the back row. After killing all of the monsters, go to group B. Un-equip Mog’s Mithril Pike, and Mithril Shield. Give the shield to Locke, and move Locke and Kupop into the back row. Have locke steal from the Marshal, than have him attack. Take out the Lobo’s quickly.
-Go into the house with the man in the doorway and get the treasures. The pot in the front heals you. Save here.
-Avoid fighting outside. Switch weapons with Locke and Terra. If you would like, switch shields as well. Make sure both are in the back row.
-There are 3 chests in Figaro, 3 in the side rooms before the throne room, and one behind the throne room.
-Only buy the Bio Blaster and Noise Blaster from the tool merchant.
-After talking with Edgar, Terra is left to roam. She can level gain in the desert and sleep I the castle for free. NR: I do not recommend level gaining until Espers are gotten. Also the Areneid’s Numb attack can stop her and almost always spells death.
-After talking with Kefka, equip Edgar with the Mithril Pike.
-Edgar is free to roam and can level gain. NR: Same reasons as for Terra level gaining
-When Terra is in control again equip the Mithril Blade. Be sure you have gotten the Noise Blaster and Bio Blaster.
-Avoid using magic until you arrive at South Figaro to skip an annoying small scene in mid-battle.
-Don’t get the treasures in the Cave to South Figaro. The chest in the upper left room will turn into a Thunder Rod, and the two off to the side turn into an X-Potion and an Ether.
-There is a Tonic in the small cabin north of the town, next to the stove. You can also sleep in the cabin for free.
-Rhinotaurs sometimes carry Mithril Claws. Try to steal one from them.
-Talk to Shadow in the Café. He stays with you longer in the future if you talk to him here.
-There are the following items in the boxes and barrels of South Figaro: 2 Tonics, a Green Cherry, an Antidote, a Soft, an Eyedrop, a Warp Stone (on the upper level and to the left), and a Phoenix Down (In the barrel outside the rich man’s house)
-Go into the rich man’s house and to the right downward exit. After getting the Phoenix Down on the outside of the rich man’s house go through the alleyway to the right. This is where an Elixir can be found in the clock, and the secret passage to the cider drinking man’s house connect. Walk through the bottom two boxes to go through the passage. Once you exit into the cider drinking man’s house go directly to the right. A tonic can be found in a pot in this little side room.
-There is a save spot below Duncan’s House.
-Go back to the rich man’s house and go upstairs. Go in the first door. Walk behind the bookshelf on the left side to go down a secret flight of stairs. There is a short corridor that turns down to a long corridor. Go strait down from where the halls connect, and then walk to the right to go down a VERY secret flight of stairs. A Hyper Wrist and Running Shoes can be found. There is also 3000 gold in the room at the end of the hall.
-At the relic shop get 3 Star pendants and Sprint Shoes. Equip a Star Pendant on everyone and use the other 3 relics to fill the slots.
-There is one secret passage to the left of the cider man’s house. There is a small bridge that connects between the sides of the town.
-In Mt. Koltz, at the 2nd indoor cave go below the large rock pillar to reach the Guardian.
-There is a Green Cherry in the pot next to the Armor in the main room of the Returner’s hideout.
-In the treasure room of the Returner’s hideout, go behind the boxes to the right, and down. A hidden passage leads to a White Cape.
-There are 3 different ways to deal with the Returners. The first is to agree to help and receive the Gauntlet. This is the worst choice. The second is to disagree 3 times, which skips the tactical meeting, and earn the better Genji Glove. I must recommend this path. The third way lets you get the Genji Glove and still have the meeting. Disagree to help once or twice, then go and talk to the soldier in the Treasure room. He’ll give you the Genji Glove and then agree to help for the meeting.
-Put the Genji Glove on Sabin if you have an extra Mithril Claw. Otherwise equip it on Terra. Make sure Banon is in the back row as well.
-For this trick you need a turbo controller. At the second intersection of the Lete River, you have a choice of left or up. Make sure the cursor is on memory. Put the A button on turbo, and set the players for these actions: Banon: Health, Edgar: Autocrossbow, and Sabin & Terra on Fight. Tape the button down, or put it on auto. Let it fight overnight. After you return your characters will be greatly leveled. Combine this with the trick in the beginning to make every character in the game have these benefits. NR: It takes a lot of fun out of the game, and I also don’t recommend level gaining at all until Espers are gotten.
-Ultros is quite easy to take out actually. Have Edgar use Autocrossbow, Sabin use AuraBolt, Terra use Fire, and Banon use Health.
-Choose the Sabin scenario first, you can get advanced equipment for the others in this scenario.
-Switch Shadow’s Ninja Gear with Sabin’s Kung Fu Suit immediately.
-Avoid fights while Shadow is with you. He will be very useful.
-Instead of chasing Kefka, walk around him and to the tent north of where a soldier stands. First get the treasure on the right, and equip it if nessecary. Heal up for the next chest because it is a Monster-in-a-box. Use Pummel with Sabin’s Blitzs and throw what you have. Kill the Telstar as quickly as possible.
-Walk behind and to the left of that tent to jump up towards another tent where a Barrier ring can be found.
-In Doma castle, after checking on the king do not go to the upper right room. Go to the room to the lower right from the throne room. There is a Remedy in the pots.
-When everyone is in a Magitek Suit, place them in the Back Row. Bolt Beam is the most effective.
-After you get in the Phantom Forest, you can battle with Shadow. After passing the Recovery Spring, go down where the sign points. Then go to the upper right exit, away from where the sign points.
-After boarding the Phantom Train, got to the Caboose. Talk to the ghost to have him join. Do it again if you have already lost Shadow.
-Don’t tak to any other ghosts. Some of them are willing to join, but you can’t tell which ones.
-In the Dining Car, go in the back entrance to find Earrings.
-In the room with 4 treasures get the treasures from right to left. The last chest has a very challenging Monster-in-a-box. Use a Phoenix Down, if you have more than 4 on hand, to kill the monster quickly. Otherwise, you’ll have to fight.
-Flick the first and third switches in the engine room, and then go to the front of the train. Use a Phoenix Down to defeat it quickly.
-After leaving Phantom Forest, remove all of Shadow’s equipment and relics.
-Jump down Barren Falls. Have Cyan use Dispatch. Have Sabin use Pummel on the Piranhas, and AuraBolt on Rizopas.
-Travel to the southeast to find Molbiz, and once there, update weapons and armor. Save enough money for some Dried meat as well.
-Sell extra items and purchase some for the people not in your party at the time. (Sellable Relics: Sniper Sight, and Star Pendants)
-In the Pidgeon Express building there is an Elixir in the clock.
-In the Relic Shop, you can sleep in the back room for free.
-Feed Gau the Dried Meat to get him to join.
-Stay on the Veldt for as long as you'd like with Gau. If you didn't have enough money for equipment get the money on the Veldt. Buy as many extra Dried Meats and Potions as you can while you are at it.
-The following Rages are ones I recommend getting: Templar, Trillium, Soldier, and Arenid.
-In Cresent Mountian, to the left there is a small extension. If you go over there, you can find an extra tonic. Avoid the upper extension though since Gau will cost you 500 gold.
-In the Serpent Trench go right at the first and second choices.
-In Nikeah, just to save you the trouble of looking, there are no treasures in the boxes or barrels.
-In the Banon, Terra, Edgar Scenario go through the Moogle Cave to get the Rune Edge.
-In Locke's Scenario, to change into the merchants clothes go into the item shop and fight the merchant. Steal from him, and the clothes are yours.
-You can complete the scenarion with one change of outfit by using the hidden path behind the cafe.
-The Password is "Courage".
-When given the choice to change, it doesn't matter, but there are slightly different scenes.
-When traveling through the Cave to South Figaro, make sure to get the upper left room treasure, which has evolved into a Thunder Rod.
-Use the Thunder Rod on the Tunnel Armor to make the battle super quick.
-The "Decicive Battle" is exceedingly difficult if you don't have many tonics, and potions. Set the groups up as follows: 1) Edgar & Sabin, 2) Kain & Gau, 3) Locke, Celes, & Terra. Use the first two groups to take out the soldiers, and use the last group to take Kefka out. After all of the soldiers are taken out switch the best equipment over to the last group. Have Terra and Locke get the best weapons and relics. Have Celes get the best defense. Have Celes use Runic every turn and use Terra and Locke to take Kefka out, using Potions and Dried Meats to heal up.
-When leaving Narshe you should only take 3 people, so you can get Shadow.
-The Weapon Shop in Narshe has a free bed.
-Don't forget to get the treasure in the shack south of Arvis' house.
-There is an Elixir in the Elder's clock.
-While in Figaro, be sure to pick up the new tools Flash and Drill.
-Before obtaining Shadow, go north of Kohlingen and find the Crazy Man's House. There is a Hero Ring in the pot near the entrance.
-For all of the possible extra scenes, take Edgar, Sabin, and Locke. Edgar and Sabin's scene will unfold if you spend the night at Figaro. Locke's scene will occur if you go into Rachels house at Kohlingen or to the basement of the Herb Man's House.
-There is an elixir in the clock of Rachel's house.
-There is a back entrance to the Herb Man's House, and if you face left, there is a chest containing a Green Beret.
-Go into the Cafe, and talk to Shadow. He'll join you at a cost. Hire him and then go to the inn. Stay there until he has a dream. This is the 1st of 5 dreams that reveal Shadow's dark past. Avoid fights when travelling south to Jidoor, and once there stay at the inn for a second dream.
-Shadow can steal if you give him the Theifknife.
-There is a Tincture in the upper right pot in Owzers House.
-The clock in Zozo's Inn should be set at 6:10:50
-The Relic Shop is how you get to Terra
-Go up the stairway, instead of jumping across to get the Theifglove.
-There are a Tincture and a Potion on the left tower 1st floor pots.
-On the left and right sides of the room where Terra is, there are Running Shoes and an X-Potion respectively.
-After getting your Espers pay close attention to when your characters are gaining levels. When they are one fight away, switch them to an esper that gives a bonus at level up. For Fighter types use Siren (+10% HP) and for Spellcasters use Stray (Mag Pwr +1)
