There are Four things you should keep in mind while maintainging a sick ferret. Although you really should take the poor pet to the vet, I know that sometimes there is no possible way to do it. This is why I'm providing you with information to help a sick ferret.

1. Make sure your pet is eating. It is best to hand feed the ferret every four hours or so, to make sure he/she is ingesting the right quantities of food.

2. Dehydration causes many deaths in the ferret world, so make sure your ferret has plenty of cold water. If you don't see the animal drinking, it may be best to bottle feed it water too.

3. Keep your pet warm, because coldness could cause a shock to the sick furry. Do not place it by a heater, or give it a heat pad, because you don't want your friend to overheat.

4. Lonliness is another problem with sick ferrets. A ferret gets used to his/her everyday activities, and its human too. If your ferret is cooped up in its cage, he/she may just give up! You can't let this happen, so hold your ferret. This will comfort the poor animal.

Remember that these four step are no excuse for not taking your pet to the vet. They only help to bide the time where you can't get to one.
