GREENVILLE FAULT HISTORY
The Greenville fault line runs through livermore crossing over vasco road to the north but south of Walnut Creek, and it runs south of livermore but east of San Jose. The Greenville fault line has had a 5.5 magnitude earthquake January 24, 1980 at 11:00am pst on a Thursday. Shook the San Francisco Bay aera, epicenter of the earthquake was approximately 12 kilometers southeast of Mt. Diablo, in a scarce populated hills north of the Livermore Valley. The 5.5 earthquake was reported to have two aftershock within two minutes measuring 5.2 and 4.2. Because of the three events this created a very long time of shaking felt by people in the Livermore Valley and the surrounded aera "very long compared to most earthquakes" Then on the 26, of January just two days later at 6:33pm pst. A second earthquake hit the Livermore Valley and surrounding aeras, measuring 5.8 acording to Seismologists of University of Berkeley California. Which is in conflict with U.S Geological Survey at Menlo Park of California, they measured a 5.2. Damages due to the earthquakes was mostly in Livermore, the biggest city located near the epicenters. The Greenville Rd. overpass was closed due to paving on the east side of the overpass settled closely to 30 centimeters from the result of the shaking in fill materials. Nearly 10,000 people went without electricity for more than two hours. Buildings windows were broken, shopping aisles were filled with merchantdise from the shelves. The Sunrise Mobile Home Park recieved alot of damage the mobiles were knocked off their foundations. Pryer to these earthquakes their wasn't any earthquakes as big as those of January 24, and 26.
