In the deepest corner of my mind,
comes a truth that has not been said.
It moves about in shadowy halls,
flickering torches lighting the passageways.
The truth is grim and dreary, but must not be withheld;
it must come forth from its hiding, to show the world its every facet.
This truth is ever living, ever growing, and lives in every one of us.
It consumes our minds and eats away at our nerves;
it hovers at the edge of our thoughts, guiding our actions.
I think now of this truth, which seems to be slithering at the very edge of my mind.
Why, I ask, does this truth so bind me?
Why, before, did it ever blind me?
I ask for answers to a question ever unasked,
what is fear, but an obstacle that every person must eventually overcome?
This is the truth I offer you,
from the very bottom of my soul,
If you should so choose to accept it,
and acknowledge the fear within your own soul.
Then you will finally understand that fear is not what blinds us,
it is not what eats away at our thoughts.
Fear is not the devourer of your heart and dreams.
Rather fear is what drives you
to become better, to survive, to fight for a new future.
It is what unites us under one banner,
for in its hand it holds another, that of bravery and courage.
For what is a hero but one who feals fear but goes on despite it?
The truth is finally revealed,
its ugly face now softened,
our savior,
our keeper,
One truth.
One people. |
