The Burning Times was a terrible time for all Witches alike. The Burning Times took place all over Europe in the Middle Ages as well as in the early and late Renaissance. The Christians of this land captured thousands of Witches, heretics, anyone outside of the Roman Catholic Church, as well as many people that they believed without evidence, were Witches. Then they burned all of them at stake. This saddens me that Christians today still dislike the Witches. My friend and I are Wiccans and we must be very secretive about our religion, in fear that if anyone knows they will bully us around(not very smart people I guess, since we can conduct very powerful spells!). In the Renaissance, Witches would hide thier true religion and have underground ceremonies. My mother knows that I am a Witch and she forbides me to practice witchcraft. So now I also hide my religion(sort of, because I told her that she can't stop me). She really just doesn't understand that most Witchcraft is really not evil.
Witchcraft is more natural and pure then any religion ,I think. The Christians claim that thier God is of purity and love......if they took so many innocent peoples lives, and still claim thier religion is of good faith, then what is pure and good in this world?
Joan of Arc was one of these innocent people, burned at steak in the Renaissance. She is the most well known heretic in history! She is also probably the purist soul for saving France! |
